Seems obvious we're passing on everyone who costs more than a few mill.

Shaw is not only bargain basement, but the basement of bargain basement.

The Angels, who just traded for Amir Garrett, also just signed Ryan Tepera for two years, $14 mil. Another actual good reliever... but $7M a year is too costly for the Red Sox?

I know, let's find someone coming off TJ surgery who hasn't pitched for a year or two...

I feel the pain, but all the deals are not done, yet.

Maybe Bloom is waiting to pounce on the left-overs.

Fine with me. He was a dog before being traded to the Braves last year.

Agreed.

He was not my idea of a worthy plan B, but at this point, if Story is the plan B, I'm not sure about much of anything.

And no right-handed relievers!

We only have 5 lefties in the bullpen. Get another southpaw and address this shortage, Bloom!

To be precise: The Kansas City Royals traded for Amir Garrett.

Shaw is actually a good idea for a placeholder for Casas. An added bonus is he did actually hit pretty well for Boston last year.

But this is a minor league contract, and as I have said many times, there is no such thing as a bad minor league contract…

I was waiting for someone to jump on me; I meant the Angels also signed Archie Bradley... we're all a bit dizzy with so many new players going to every other team but one.

And before someone else says They paid Ottavino $8 mil last year, remember it was more like They took Otto's crappy contract so they could buy prospect Frank German.

This explains this FROZEN Stove Season -- Bloom can't accept paying the price for anyone good unless there's a prospect attached. It's all part of the plan.

Speaking of leftovers, which Chaim likes, too bad Meatloaf passed away during the off season or Bloom could have signed him

That is the truth! If you go out to Honolulu, those guys love spam. As Eli manning would say, “ they put that crap on everything.”

Just another reason that state is loaded with issues and needs to be some to Japan!

Tyler Anderson to... where else...

LAD for $8M/1

Their payroll is close to $290 million for tax purposes. I wonder how much tax that translates to?

I'm not sure if they can get out of paying Bauer or not. The criminal case against him fell through.

What did the end up agreeing on for the tax rate for level 1 and level 2?

From the article I just read, they ended up keeping the rates the same. The only change is they added a new threshold at 60 mill above the first threshold, but the article doesn't explain much about that.

So the onerous rates we heard being bandied about never materialized. That helps explain why the Dodgers are still spending away.

That was one area I thought the players might give something up.

So, there is a limit, a $20M, $40M and $60M line, or just one at $20M and $80M ($60 M above)??

176 pages and arguably the best signing is Mike Wacha ?... the guy we absolutely obliterated in the World Series .freaking Bloom must be letting his cat sign players .And some here are bitching about Correa and Story ? Yikes ...hey when Devers and Xander are killing the pitching because of how freaking terrible they are at SS and third please picture two huge middle fingers from me Edited by Swiharts Ghost

Sox signed fan favorite , Hansel Robles to boost the bullpen. Bitterly disappointed by failing to get Hansel , the Braves had to settle for Kenley Jansen.

Hey, Bloom finally quieted the lefty pen talk.

Man! $16M/1 from the Braves.

Some teams appear to not care about spending.

Some teams think they can get away with not spending ....they are right because the fan base goes no matter how horrific the Infield Defense is or that our Catcher can’t call a game worth a s*** orrr that 50 year old Rich Hill and Mike Wacha will certainly get lit the F up in the AL East ....I predict Hill pitches 10 games for us before injury or DFA same goes for Wacha .Sale won’t be much better .By June we will be talking Firesale ....way to go Chaim Bloom way to make The Redsox perennial contenders you dope ...Devil Rays now

Some teams don't care about spending . And some do. That's the difference between getting one of the best closers of all time like Jansen or a ham and egger like Robles.

How the Hell do you not go balls deep this year after coming so close last year instead you get Hill and Wacha ? And Paxton ?? What a joke of a GM .I don’t think we ever win a World Series under this guy .Scared Chaim Bloom .Farm looks great Chaim the rest of the Big Club kinda needs a lot of help almost like you don’t give a flying F about the actual Boston Redsox MLB team sir .Best FA SS haul ever and you have your thumb up your ass playing around .I can’t stand this Hire .
