We aren’t getting s*** for pitching.

The two best starting pitchers are now off the market--Scherzer and Berrios. The rest of the trade market starting pitchers aren't a major upgrade over what the Red Sox already have.

The Rays, Yankees ab=nd Jays have all been aggressive and now less is available to the Sox. So far, the Sox have not done a lot to improve the team for 2021.

So what is Bloom's defense in trading for a corner outfielder on the IL ? I'm guessing it is not his last deal of the day and the master plan will become clear.

Or not....another starter is now off the board....

An' please your honour...

Even most old schoolers recognize more than BA. Schwarber takes a lot of walks, so he has a respectable .337 on base pct. And he has averaged 38 old school home runs and 86 old school RBI per 162 games.

I recognize HR of course, and RBI (but only because Jackie Jensen got a lot of them). OBP? Walks? Never heard of 'em.

My two cents: I think the plan is definitely to put Schwarber at first. Another starting pitcher should now be the priority. But the return of Sale and the addition of Houck to the rotation could well be the answer. Kimbrel is probably the best closer since Mariano hung them up , but I think the bullpen is fine as is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. We can take our best shot at the brass ring with what we have right now , plus what we are getting back.

Berrios to Blue Jays
I guess Bloom will go for some oft-injured retread pitcher with a big salary. Oh, wait, ... he already signed Garret Richards.

It is amazing what the Dodgers gave up in the Scherzer/Turner trade: Ruiz and Gray, arguably the Dodgers two top prospects. They paid a big price, nice work by the Nats getting so much in return.

Schwarber isn’t a terrible player, but he is a questionable fit. Even on this board, there isn’t agreement about what position he’s going to play…

yeah I just read that. The division is going to be a dogfight lol

Between the Yanks and the Jays, yes. One will be very disappointed at the end of the year.

Hendricks would be the #2 starter here.

It's too late for Berrios to save the Jays this year. If you watch them enough , you will see that they just don't play good , sound baseball. Maybe next year for them.

The bp is "fine" but they need additional insurance out there.

Seems like bloom is getting beat to the punch badly unless those teams don’t like our prospects or bloom doesn’t wanna give them up.

Or he doesn't like the prices being paid?

I don’t understand why the jays are buyers. Frankly I feel they’re done. They’re not better than the As or Yankees or rays.

The Jays have "won" multiple offseasons and never have gone anywhere. They may as well "win" the trade deadline and miss the playoffs too.

Pablo Sandoval to the Guardians for Eddie Rosario

There has to be more to this…

Adding Pablo to the Guardian statues out front. He's got the girth.

Come on Bloom get us a pitcher. I would have felt better about our pitching staff had pivetta been more consistent but he has been awful his last 3 starts. Don’t know what’s going on there.

Bloom doesn’t have anyone ranked as highly as many of the prospects being dealt for the players he’s in on. ..

He’ll topple the bridge.

(Do Fat Pablo jokes ever get old?)

It shows how bad our farm system is. That’s one of the biggest things right now with this team. The farm system could be much better .
