Kyle Hendricks

Jon Gray

Carlos Santana (if the plan is to play Schwarber in LF)

For what it's worth, Gray's career splits as a Rocky are slightly better in ERA and BA in Colorado than on the road.

If they stay put we better pray that the starting pitching gets better. ERod, Richards, and even pivetta recently have been straight awful.

ERod had a 3.03 ERA in his 6 starters before the last one. There is hope, there, but the other 3 are really struggling.

I wonder what it would take to get Byan Buxton. He has a fractured bone in his hand but would be a great addition to the outfield for 2022. That's consistent with Bloom's strategy.

To further the confusion, Erod recorded 10 outs last night. 8 of them were K's, in the course of giving up 7 hits, 6 runs and 4 walks. That is a guy who is lost on the rubber. I never thought Erod had the mental discipline and fortitude to be a strong competitor. High potential and a weak will to succeed.

Yup. A top three of Eovaldi, Sale and Houck features two huge question marks the next two months. The Jays trio of Ryu, Ray and Berrios have all been good all year. And the Rays only have dozens of guys who throw 98.

Given the number of question marks on the current roster, it is not inconceivable that Bloom , true to his words, is building for 2022. Planning on a couple key FA's and further development from the Durans, and maybe Dalbec (lots of work needed). The likelihood of this 2021 Red Sox team, as good as results have been so far, going deep into the playoffs is very low.

The #Cubs will receive second baseman Nick Madrigal and pitcher Codi Heuer from the #WhiteSox for Craig Kimbrel.

Woweee...

It gets higher if Bloom adds a good starting pitcher in the next hour to a rotation headed by Eovaldi... and if just one of Sale/Houck/ERod/Pivetta emerges as a consistent strike-thrower through October. The Front Office has to be thinking the same thing. Add a solid starter and another reliable bullpen arm, and go to war.

The guy has an era over 5 and like someone mentioned mentally he’s a softy.

Quote from MLB.com: "He’ll pair with Liam Hendriks to give the South Siders a lethal one-two punch at the back end of the bullpen."

My Red Sox heart just relaxed. But I still hope Kimbrel isn't lethal to White Sox fans come October.

The good news for Kimbrel. Going to a contender and won't have to move. Just across town.

Jimenez and Downs are two guys I would definitely trade. Unfortunately, Downs value has probably taken a hit.

Has Jeters value gone Down this year (pun intended) absolutely!!! but I bet people would be surprised at how little it actually went down. Front offices understand the progression and player development isn't linear. They don't expect every guy to plow his way in to the majors like Mookie Betts. Downs could still carry a lot of weight in a trade for the Sox, or be a useful player in a year or two here.

Agreed.

If Bogey opts out, who plays SS in 2023?

CJ Cron 162-game averages over 8 seasons: 28 HR, 87 RBI, .780 OPS.

I've suggested a few Jon Gray & Cron deals.

Also, Boyd & Schoop.

Thinking about Gibson and Hendricks, now.
