We're 13 games over .500 for first time. Finished the tough road trip 4-3. The team is hanging in there.

After those 3 losses in Houston, things looked bleak, then came the moon mojo.

As bad as Dalbec has looked (I'm his fan), his ops of .625 is not far behind Kike's .654. Kike went 0-4 with 3 K's.

More concerning is Santana. I'm beginning to think his 2019 season was an aberration. He's BA is .125.

Even more concerning will be if Cora bats him first again.

I think it is time to promote Chavis, play him at 2B and 1B and send both Kike and Marwin to the OF and give Santana a plane ticket out of town.

The Yankee fans seem to have quieted down. Spending big money doesn't always bring results.

One of the more interesting side bars to last nights ESPN telecast was A-Rod ripping Yankees Front Office regarding their lineup. He went on for several innings. He clearly was not impressed with Cashman's having so many right handed hitters. It was hoot listening to him.

Not being able to smash balls over the fence, they can't overwhelm opponents as in the past.

You never think it'll happen but you do get older. Just look at Gardner. He plays like an old man now. Not a good look for a centerfielder.

They're saddled with Stanton's contract for six more years after 2021.

6 year, $90M man LeMahieu is now a singles hitter. Yep, he just signed the new deal beginning this year.

This version of Yankees will not play well in Broadway but it works in my household.

And they can't help themselves. Judge will end up with Betts deal and that's good news for Red Sox. Yankees will have 3 guys having signed a deal in excess of $300M.

Another financial disaster in making.

Making GMs look good is not my thing. He has a media and press relations organization to do that.

And in Bloom's case, he has us. :D

Yes, that is one hell of a tough 4 game winning streak you just pulled off, moon.

Marwin deserves some love for his performance in this series. 5 RBI in 3 games, and some big ones.

Also got his OPS back over .600 LOL

It's like we've reached the point that if your OPS is over .600, there's still hope for you.

6 more years of Stanton will hurt, despite the $3M/yr Miami pays off the lux tax number. He may still have some big years left, but playing a full season is a pipe dream.

LeMahieu may not be a big drag, but 5 more years is tough.

We may see the Yanks spend more at the trade deadline, picking up short term fixes that don't drag down the finances long term, and shouldn't cost much, in terms of prospects given up, if the contract is huge.

It's funny how this past winter, all we heard was how well the Yanks were set up for the short AND long term.

Now, look!

Max is king mojo, though. That thing with the wrong date was brilliant!

Yep, I thought our 2019 starting pitching looked good on paper, too. That's why you play the game, as they say.

The thing about preseason projections is, fans could do as well on them as 'experts'. It's all guesswork.

The Yankees really decided to go X Factor with their rotation when they signed both Kluber and Taillon. How could anyone reliably predict what those two would do? Answer: they couldn't.

Same with Richards, Pivetta & Perez. I'd have traded any 2 of those 3 for Kluber and Taillon in March.

The preseason projections on the Yankees weren't really grounded in much logic. They were 33-27 last year, they replaced Tanaka and Happ with Kluber and Taillon, and that was supposed to vault them into a 105 win team?

Solid points. Moreover A-Rod is absolutely correct their lineup is poorly constructed for their ball park.

Well, I did predict they’d both get injured. Does that count?

Yes, very much. You called it. Reminds me of a Yankee that pointed to bleachers while standing in batter's box. Epic.

So you're 1 for 2 so far. Or did Taillon get hurt?

MLB said the changes to the baseball would only reduce the distance by 1-2 feet on balls hit 375 feet. Maybe they've had more of an effect in Yankee stadium. I'm wondering how much of a factor that may be. If the Yankees can't hit home runs they're very beatable.

I wouldn't write them off yet, they can still go on a tear. They are the New Yankees, and they almost never suck as much as we want them too.

And yet they were HEAVY favorites to win the whole AL! They replaced three-fourths of their rotation with reclamation projects and somehow experts thought they were better???

The ghost of George is haunting them. Old Yankees fans not in denial know the Boss would've signed Bauer, traded for Snell, and never let the crosstown Mets nab Lindor -- who the Yanks needed more than anyone since they blew it letting Didi go (glad to hear ARod address this huge mistake).

Hey, when a guy predicts something that he has done like 700 times, is that really all that prophetic?

As of right now, missing out on Lindor and his .647 OPS doesn't look like a huge mistake....

But ask honest Yankee fans how much better off they'd be right now with just his daily defense in the middle.

It was an accident, but no one could fix the date. On the game thread of win #1, several people told me to stay with the date, so I did.

Gotta love these last 4 games however. Big wins against good teams in their ballparks. And who knew the Sox had not swept the Yankees in Yankee Stadium in 10 freaking years? Who knew the 2d win would be thanks to the bottom of the Sox order with their four 8th inning rbi's? Or that Taylor would get that much needed gift K to end the 8th last night?

That, ladies and gents, is mojo.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Devers--in his first season with the Sox--hit a late season dinger off a 103 mph fastball by Chapman?

Right now the Rays have the best winning percentage in the AL and the Sox are tied with the other Sox for the 2d best winning percentage.

And Chaim Bloom is the one of the architects of both the Rays and the Sox. From what I've read he literally wrote the book the Rays use, tweaked I'm sure by their current GM. No book yet for the Sox, but some pretty good moves.

One of the things the movie Moneyball got right was in implying that John Henry knows how to pick executives for the Sox even though he didn't get Billy Beane.

Then they should have taken my off-season recommendation and signed Andrelton Simmons...
