Yes? I'd probably counter with Houck and Dalbec, just because of Mata's current health status.

I think the O's are still years away from competing. Mancini will be gone by the time that happens.

How many years does Mancini have under team control?

What if Bloom countered with Dalbec and Bello? Doesn’t work well on BTV, but Bello is the hot name right now. Or if they countered with Mancini for Downs?

I don’t think it’s hard to stretch out a pitcher during a season, but the tricky part is to not max out his innings limit by August.

10 Openers in July and August, 2, 3, 4 innings, averaging 3 innings. That's 30 innings.

He's pitched 34 innings so far. Add 30 innings and you get 64 innings as of 9/1.

5 starts in September averaging 6 innings for total of 30 innings. Now we're up to 94 innings.

What would be his maximum for this year? 120 innings?

I actually like Bello more than Downs.

I wish they’d take Chavis, Groome, Ward and RHernandez.

I doubt we give up that much for that little control.

That's why I don't see Bloom giving up a top pitching prospect for a guy like Mancini. The Rays dealt a #1 pick for Arozarena, probably as much for the years as the potential.

My idea of stretching him out would be to continually increase his workload until he can go 5-6 innings by August first.

No, No, No......Bello is a keeper as is Dalbec, at least until Casas shows he's better.

I suppose only way we see this is if our rotation continues to get hammered.

The biggest stumbling block to making Whitlock a starter is Sale.

IMO, we will need at least one starter by August 1st. Needing two is not such a sure bet, but “I figure the odds be 50-50.”

If it turns out we don’t need him to start, it can’t hurt having a RPer that goes 4-6 innings every 4-6 days.

I wouldn't counter with Bello. That seems like a non starter to me.

I don't think they do it either, but it's a fair trade if they are looking to compete this year.

Now this is a classic TS trade proposal. Just lump a whole bunch of s*** and try to get an All Star.

Casas would outhit Dalbec today.

Exactly, that’s why I said “wish.”

It would never be accepted, unless the BAL GM liked these guys more than we do.

The "problem" for the 2021 Sox is that you have to do this while also trying to win games, which can limit your "situational flexibility".

Pure conjecture and IMO doubtful.

1.013 OPS (away, oops -ed) in AA this year. He's getting promoted to WOO after the ASB and will probably see BOS in AUG.

I look forward to you backtracking on this like you did on Devers' promotion.

He won’t be up in August.

I loved the Devers call up and timing of the call up, so I’m not sure where you are going with this.

If Casals does get called up before I expect, I’ll be thrilled, and I’ll trust he’s ready and will do well. Better than Dalbec? Questionable but certainly possible, especially if Dalbec is slumping again, which he’d have to be for Casals to get a chance to play everyday with Boston.

So true, and that is one major flaw with the BTV site.

One never knows how another GM values our marginal prospects. Sometimes you see trades like this that are head scratchers.

We'll see where we are as a team going into the All Star game.

I'm very pleased with the season. We're learning about our players.

Don't misconstrue me......

Kike...he only comes up in my 'negativity' posts when speaking about leadoff hitters. He is what he is is fine by me.

Marwin....he has value in that in he plays multiple positions, including both outfield and infield, we probably need a guy like that....BUT NOT TWO GUYS LIKE THAT.

Santana....he's just an enigma to me. (I just wanted to use that word)

Not sure if we can upgrade much. I don't want to trade younger guys for a rental.

Pitching...it's just concerning that we don't have a stopper, Eovaldi should be the guy but not sure. If Chris Sale returns in July, I'll be doing back flips. I think our pen is fine. Barnes, Ottavino, Taylor, Sawamura, Whitlock, Darwinzon. Tanner can be a big help when he gets healthy, starting or relieving.

A walk-off three-run home run from Jarren Duran and another spotless relief performance from Kaleb Ort led the WooSox to their 10th win in 11 games. Duran was 0 for 3 with three strikeouts before his opposite-field home run in the 10th inning. It was his 12th home run of the year and he is now hitting .286/.379/.627. He entered the year with just eight career home runs in 199 games. Josh Ockimey added his seventh home run on the year.

Good to see Kaleb Ort pitching well. Maybe a long shot to get called up. 17 G, 20 IP, 0.45 ERA, 1.00 WHIP. Another Yankee cast off. Sweet.

Mvp is proposing a trade for Trey Mancini, who would replace Dalbec…

Proposing, not preparing. My bad.

I wanted to see who was benefitting from the WOO Home/Road split the most.

Josh Ockimey +679 OPS Home vs Road

Michael Gettys +433 OPS Home vs Road

Jeter Downs +357 OPS Home vs Road

Jarren Duran +280 OPS Home vs Road

Who has been better away from Polar Park?

Michael Chavis -360 OPS Home vs Road

As a team, WOO has a 922/609 Home/Road OPS split. 25 HR's vs 13 HR's. 223 TB's vs 137 TB's. 28 2b's vs 13 2b's.

Get some of that home cookin'.

After mild reflection, if I’m the Sox GM, dealing Dalbec and Mata for Mancini is a deal I would make.

If I’m the Baltimore GM, Mata’s health issues and recent surgery would give me pause.

Now if I’m the Baltimore GM, I would be all for a Downs/Mancini swap…

Meanwhile in Portland

Frank German came out of the bullpen for the first time this season, tossing three innings of one-run ball. He struck out four and did not walk a batter as his ERA stayed at an even 3.00 in June.

German was part of why we paid Ottavino's salary for 2021. His ERA was 8.47 in 5 starts in May. He had started 8 games before his recent relief stint.
