Use this thread to sound off to the owner of our beloved Boston Red Sox! Will he ever read any of it? Doubtful. But what the heck.. let’s sound off anyway.

Hey John. You’ve done some good work in the past. The FO guys that you put in place (with a couple strokes of luck) have helped us to win multiple World Series titles. Now it’s time to get to work and think ahead about what this team will look like for the next 5-10 years. You know what players are here to stay, you know what positions need to be re-evaluated. Have the conversations, have the meetings and sign the checks if need be. I agree about letting go of Mookie. Not interested in having almost 400 million tied up for one player thru 12 years. Dombrowski had to be let go as well.

We know 2020 is a charade. 2021 needs to be a drastic improvement. Let’s contend John. No excuses.

Hey John, thanks for some great years! I agree letting Mook go was the right decision! World titles are won on the mound.... please evaluate the scouts that are telling you to draft hitters and lollipop lefthanders! We need dominate arms that can be counted on! Please start giving some of the youngsters a chance to prove themselves... love Beni but it’s not there and he’s gotta find the passion and fire to figure it out! Move Devers over to first and make him drop 20 and prolong his career in the field(those hips won’t get smaller). Give Dalbec a chance, bring up Downs, try Darwin as closer, let Duran track down balls in the alley and steal some bases! Get Groome on the mound..!!! Let’s look forward to 2021 and have pieces in place in hopes that Sale comes back healthy enough to make a push! Ohh and if someone wants Devers for some young stud arms.... send him on, build around Bogey!!!

Hey John,

Don’t blow it up. Keep trying with this crew. I recommend you spend a lot this offseason, especially on pitchers over 30. You’re just a tweak or two away!

Sincerely,

Dear John--

Thank you for your shrewd business decisions! And esp. for your steadfast support of Bob Manfred, one of the truly great commissioners in sports histories.

Dear John,

Get rid of Tom Werner.

Also, what are your thoughts on garlic and wooden stakes?

Best,

Dear John, I have one request to fix MLB and the Red Sox: get rid of the check-swing flinch call.

Summon the umpires and make it a mandate, not a goal; from now on, batters have to actually turn their wrists over or it's check-swing (like it was for 100 years). Batteries should be banned from asking home plate umps to appeal to base umps 90 feet away from the action. Want more action, more balls in play and less strikeouts? Do away with the check-swing flinch appeal and force pitchers to throw more in the zone. Fans might like that more, too.

The 2020 roster is a disgrace. A crack addict could have built a better pitching staff. Don’t give me this reset and rebuild ********. I could have built a better pitching staff for far less than your payroll and I could have done it while I was drunk at a bar and texting my friends. So spare me the lame ass excuses. I remember some miserly ownership and they never rolled out a pitching staff comprised of 13 garbage cans.

Oh and while you are at it, get a new ballpark. The whole self-awarded “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark” has always been BS. And if you are going to charge the highest ticket prices in baseball at least offer your fans some comfort and good sight lines if we have to watch scrubs.

No one is at the ballpark to watch the scrubs this year...

Hopefully, there will be fans next year.

That would be nice. If there aren't any again, one has to wonder how sustainable MLB is going forward.

While this frustrating (to be kind) rotation looks easy to improve upon, not really sure what else could have been done. The Sox lost Sale and ERod before the season began, and if they had them, the Sale-Rodriguez-Eovaldi-Perez front 4 is certainly not intimidating, but it's better than this Long Island Ducks rotation the team is rolling out now, and by a lot. Losing Darwinzon Hernandez has not helped atall, either.

But the Sox had no money to spend given their insanely high payroll, which was well over $200mill before the Betts trade. They had no young pitchers coming up. Their best pitching prospect above A ball whose not out with COVID-19 is probably Bryan Mata, who had 53 unimpressive innings in AA. Their best pitching prospect besides him is probably Jay Groome, who has all of 66 IP in 4 years. No help from within.

They don't even have many good prospects to deal for a pitcher. Casas and Downs (who was not part of the system) headline the list. The two have combined for 12 games above A ball. They are still tradable, although not sure for what.

Maybe the Sox could have dealt Benintendi for a pitcher, and in hindsight, they probably should have. And maybe they still will. But is a pitcher obtained for Benintendi really going to save this team?
