I agree -- I'm not giving him a pass; I was just noting that he's lucky he doesn't have to face the music. Bloom is also unaccountable upstairs, since his bosses hired him with the concession that they'd be "worse this year" (his words) by clearing salary.

A "decade of failure"... is a big chunk of hyperbole.

I am not placing it on Verdugo. It gets placed squarely on Bloom. This isn’t Tampa where you can send out sandlot quality players while rebuilding. There are no fans due to COVID, but you can’t charge the highest ticket prices in MLB for this Pile of mound garbage.

I figure two to three years of excellent drafting is needed and then 4 to 5 years or so of development and two to three years of major league experience and we could have an excellent self sustaining development system while being capable of winning championships at the major league level!

 

Ps: I am actually very impressed with hang’em chaim’s first draft, but while we got a couple really exciting bats and future relievers, we got nothing as fast as starting pitching goes.
