Bye.

We all knew this would be a bridge year. I don’t know what’s the plan for franchise after this season. They had bloated bad contracts everywhere.

These games will be over quickly cause of the lousy pitching.

I knew pitching would suck, but was hoping the offense could keep us in games. Didn’t realize losing a single player would turn us into this dump.

Has to be the other way around. The pitching has to give the O a chance. They’ll hit but you can’t count on scoring 8 every game. Pitching has to keep it to 4 runs or so.

We lost Betts. That’s a big hole that Verdugo with a healthy back can’t fill.

If Betts started Saturday and today, they’d still get smoked. These 2 SP performances were unacceptable if you want to compete.

Said it too many times - Ryan Weber is NOT an MLB-caliber starting pitcher...

Agree; long reliever used in early blow out type games. If he holds the other team, fine. If he doesn’t, so what.

And he is their #3. That means that they will be sending out 3 starters every 5 days that are not major league pitchers until ERod comes back. Couldn’t he get some affordable mediocre major league arms. Weber is a disgrace.

With Betts, we might be able to bludgeon Wade LeBlanc. We would have a chance to win on a football score.

Offense goes nuts for one game, followed by 2-3 games of silence.

Rinse, repeat.

Well the lousy pitching has buried them basically. You can’t fall behind 4 to 5 runs in every game.

This isn't on Verdugo. Bloom couldn't pry one decent pitcher from LA for 13 years of the Sox' best player in half a century?

I am not placing it on Verdugo. It gets placed squarely on Bloom. This isn’t Tampa where you can send out sandlot quality players while rebuilding. There are no fans due to COVID, but you can’t charge the highest ticket prices in MLB for this Pile of mound garbage.

End of the day we all knew the pitching would be a huge question mark. Ya hat I didn’t know is the offense would lay a friggin turd. 4 runs in 15 innings against this team is beyond pathetic. We still have enough talent that this should t happen. Can’t wait to see what happens to us against the good teams and pitchers. Holy s***.

Because of this unprecedented summer of empty stands, he oddly gets a pass for his first assembled pitching staff in Fenway. No fans, no boos, no mock cheers, no sardonic banners... I wonder how loud the audio man gets to be with the piped in crowd disappointment?

Yup, if we go 1-2 against our worse opponent and in our own ball park, the rest of the so-called season doesn't bode well. I was really hoping for a 3-0 start to get a bit of a hedge against the rest of the schedule, but no go.

Agreed. I was hoping for the sweep. Granted this game isn’t over yet. Offense will have to help the pitching out a lot this year. Granted our offense was the best last year and they didn’t get us much.

I get that, but this pitching staff was assembled before the pandemic shut down things.

They got a good pitcher in the deal and gave him back.
