Yeah, I suppose - the lifetime ban that isn't a lifetime ban.

Exactly. The "lifetime ban" would be enough for the smoke to blow over. And then he can quietly be reinstated and be someone's bench coach

The decision to give all players immunity is a good way to encourage players to do other nefarious things in the future.

Great job!

I believe they gave them immunity as a carrot to make them speak about everything they know about the situation.

Of course they did. Manfred took the easy way out. He knew punishing players under their union would be very tough to do. So he decided to pin it on the leaders, who he could punish with impugnity

According to a report from USA TODAY, two high-ranking officials involved in the investigation believe that Red Sox will receive LIGHT punishment since little to no evidence was found of cheating.

Sweet.

I think it is VERY possible he gets a "lifetime ban" with a chance at reinstatement after 2 seasons. The precedent has been there. Jennry Mejia says hi

IDK. I guess I just disagree with that direction.

Is Bradley your new Pedroia?

Nah. There is only one Pedroia.

Not sure there isn't a player on the current roster that I have a grudge against.

What??? Since they couldn't find any significant evidence that the Red Sox cheated they're only going to give them a LIGHT punishment?????

WTF????

Meanwhile the Yankees give their ballgirl a tryout and she hits .438 with RISP. Yankee fans credit Cashman...

Amazing, isn't it, that the only Houston employees named by the current players weren't part of the Astros organization last year.

Was Hinch named by anyone or just punished for not controlling the situation?

Most stories I've heard had Hinch very much not in favor of the cheating...

I'm not sure if he was named and I did read the same stories saying he was against it.

I understand what you are saying about only naming guys no longer in the organization.

Pretty obvious they are trying to distance themselves from it when we all know they are guilty as hell.

One at-bat after hitting a home run during a 1974 game against the Detroit Tigers, the Yankees’ Graig Nettles broke his bat … and six little superballs came bouncing out.

LOL! I remember that.

I remember that too!

Although there's little evidence to support the theory that super balls or corked bats help to hit more HR's.

In fact, some reports show quite the opposite:

do steroids help with hitting HR's?

what did you think about Giambi's two wall scrapers in Game 7 2003 ALCS? asterisk, amiright?

I certainly don't condone steroids in baseball.

Never have, never will.

I was going to add that you could asterisk all the Yankee titles during that era because Pettitte admitted taking PEDs, but he's the only ballplayer in history who gets a pass because he "felt an obligation to get back to my team as soon as possible".
