How is Gonsolin - never ranked by anyone - somehow that much pricier than Graterol?

Tony Gonsolin is healthy and has defied the rankings.

Nearly four years ago I went out to the University of Portland to see Saint Mary's of California ace Corbin Burnes, who pitched a gem:

I don't even remember Gael outfielder Anthony Gonsolin going 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI.

Hahaha...your fertile mad trader mind never rests...nice touch with the $3 million less for Price.

3 players less than normal and worse than the one we have in place now, but not a bad effort.

@PeteAbe

Per a major league source, the #RedSox are planning to name bench coach Ron Roenicke as manager but are waiting for MLB to conclude its investigation into the 2018 team before making an announcement.

So Roenicke needs to be punished because Cora was dirty in Houston?

I wonder if they got smoke signals from MLB that Ronnie wasn't implicated.

Given that Cora did not institute the elaborate sign-stealing scheme he was familiar w/ at Houston, the rather tame system alleged at Boston was unlikely his. Sounds as if managerial ethos at both clubs was "to let the guys--i.e.,players and bench coach?--do what they want, and stay out of the way." Which if true would mean Roenike was a lot closer to anything going on than Cora. (I admit, I just want Cora back in baseball, so perhaps these idle speculations are a function of tthat.)

fair response. i guess i'm going with the mantra that Cora instituted something nefarious in 2018. if the investigation concludes that the Sox did nothing illegal i will post my mea culpa.

They're still waiting though, right?

Maybe? How did it leak? Why did it leak?

I hope they aren't doing this to take the heat off the Mookie trade.

I don't think there's a hope in hell of that happening. Ha!

First off, there's no need for mea culpa. None of us are culpable in their scheme. Second off, the only thing I have said is the sox got a cheater manager from Houston (nobody refutes that), 3 witnesses came forward that the sox were stealing signs, and that the punishment would be worse than Houston's.

The only thing I will post about that is an about face is if the Yanks are implicated and punished for malfeasance post mid 2017. Then, I will bury them

I like the trade two starters for two relievers.Pivetta has damn good stuff he could slot in 2 this year and 3 next .Seabold has swing and miss stuff not overpowering but he can pitch .Chaim good work .

Seabold has good minors numbers but really, he has average stuff apparently. He still could grab a backend starter role this year and maybe slot into the pen next season.

Pivetta, OTOH, I agree with you. Hopefully he’s a change of scenery guy because he throws hard and has good stuff. I like him in this deal...

I like the depth of the move it’s what we brought Chaim in for .Excited for a bigger move if possible but good start .

Pivetta is average at best I think

It would be nice if the Sox got lucky with one of these trades. The Spanks made a hand full of deals before last season and it seemed like they got lucky on everyone of them. Voit, Urshela, and Tauchman.

True...you never know....but they gave up a lot to take that chance

Sounds like hang’em Chaim thinks the Sox can rehabilitate whatever is wrong with pivetta!

The important thing to me is that hang’em Chaim has figured out that junk ball pitchers don’t do well in Fenway and has started acquiring power arms after an offseason filled with signing crap ball pitchers. It ‘s amazing how he could spend all those years in our division and not notice the success we have is mostly with power pitchers!

Better late than never bloom!

You want to fire sell, that's fine. You want to dismantle a WS winner, that's fine. But if you are going to do it, go the distance. Half-assing it by keeping Xander, Devers, Beni, Vasquez, JD is silly. You get rid of everyone and stop pretending the Sox aren't PawSox. They are.
