None of us has insider knowledge. We all know this going in to said discussions.

That's only because we no longer have posters who give uber rides to Larry Lucchino.

I don't know if you're kidding, but I really want to believe you're not.

We did have a poster that gave Larry a ride home. I believe he also played frisbee with Damon (or someone) on the Boston Common.

Why do you continually post that we don't know what's going on behind the scenes when we discuss things? Is it some vein attempt to feel superior? Mostly everyone knows we don't have all the information at hand, but this is a discussion board, where people pass the time by playing out scenarios and discussing possibilities. We do so knowing we don't have access to information the GM's that run our clubs do. And so we make guesses and summations, based on reports and assumptions, knowing it has no effect on anything other than the discussion at hand.

It's a strange way to pass the time I grant you, but far less odd than consistently going to a forum to tell people they don't know enough when discussing fantasy propositions.

excellent post

I don’t even know what that means...

You have a tendency to drive your Ford Model T in very dangerous situations but always come out unscathed.

For an exceptionally smart man, that felt like an exceptionally dumb thing to do.

I honestly don't think it was a big deal. Because at some point it was going to become obvious anyway. You can't hide the fact you're not spending and that there are rumors about trading Betts, Price et cetera.

Agree.

Other GM: Oh, so you're trying to trade Betts and Price?!?!? I wonder why?!?!?

Mookie appears to be as good as gone -- though I'm not quite as convinced as Ken Rosenthal, famous for breaking the big story about the Astros and Red Sox, but not investigating the Yankees (Chris Young admitted to Gammons he brought the Apple Watch espionage from NY to Bos).

If Betts is traded, who do you think has the better chance of returning to the Red Sox in the future: Mookie or Alex Cora? I say AC...

Yeah, that's a fair point.

Oh there is no doubt in my mind the Yankees are stealing signs. THeyve been reprimanded once already for misuse of communication equipment. And just about every player they bring in who was struggling elsewhere suddenly finds his groove in NY? Only two possibilities 1. Cashman has the Midas touch or Midas touches for GMs. Or 2. He doesn't and something else is happening.

It's something I'm greatly enjoying. I think it's obvious Dodgers and Padres want Betts. Sweat them out.

As am I. Patience is a good thing here.

If the Red Sox are shopping Mookie Betts, its's obvious the Sox want to slip under the luxury tax threshold. Perhaps the Dodgers and Padres are "sweating out" the Red Sox.

And vice versa. It's the nature of negotiations.

I suspect offers have been exchanged since November. Chaim Bloom apparently has been patient as the offers have gotten better, worse or stayed the same. We outsiders probably will never know.

It may be my bias, but I think the Sox hold the negotiating power over the Dodgers and Padres in this case. If Bloom doesn't get what he's looking for, he doesn't trade Mookie. There are worse things that could happen to the Sox. Remaining competitive is still supposedly a higher priority than resetting the tax this year.

Bloom needs to call the Padres tonight .This deal wasn’t above reproach anyway .Then call the Dodgers and ask for May time to play hardball Bloom let’s see what ya got .

The Red Sox could ask for Dustin May while the Dodgers, who are negotiating from a position of strength, could ask for Triston Casas and Bobby Dalbec.

No.

The Dodgers wouldn’t deal May, Ruiz or Lux for 2 years of Lindor, what makes you think they’d off them for one year of Betts?

Well, we would be adding Casas and Dalbec, but I agree, the Dodgers wouldn't do it.

How about Betts, Price, $45M ($3M less than original offer), Workman and Chavis for Verdugo & Gonsolin?

Hahaha...your fertile mad trader mind never rests...nice touch with the $3 million less for Price.

How is Gonsolin - never ranked by anyone - somehow that much pricier than Graterol?

I'd prefer the current trade.
