Very glad to hear that ERod is the starter tonight' date=' as pointed out after this our pitching is lined up just fine. They have to play Pearce over Moreland who has given them nothing, Hell he hasn't given them much since June.[/quote']

With a lefty going for L.A. , Pearce will certainly play first.

Decision making by Vaz trying to make a play when it wasn't there may have cost us 4 runs. I know things happen in an instant, but that was a bigg error.

I happened to be skimming the Wikipedia article for this World Series and came across a hilarious tidbit of information: Game 3, at 7 hours and 20 minutes of playing time, was 15 minutes longer than the combined playing time total (7 hours and 5 minutes) of the ENTIRE 1939 World Series.

A good win to get series momentum back and push LA to the edge. Also, I hope most of you have stopped sticking pins in your Ian Kinsler dolls now...

Shouldn't the Dodgers have won tonight, since they gained the "momentum" last night?

It seems like whenever the Sox are "supposed" to lose, they win. I like that about this team.

These Sox. Don't ever give up on them. Funny how the offense came not from the top of our ordeer, but from guys like Pearce, Holt, Devers, Moreland. The team is relentless and never out of it. Lets hope our top of the order guys come out of their mini-slump and take it to Kershaw. Funny how Price will start on 3 days rest.

I am wondering if Kimbrel's issues are not with his pitches themselves or if opponents have picked something up about his Slider. I am remembering the Ryu game against the Brewers in Milwaukee where they were just picking apart his early count Sliders like they were just nothing, drilling them all over the lot and completely comfortable and doubt free in the batters box.

Last night, the Dodgers were either spitting on Kimbrel's Slider or conversely crushing it ala' the Hernandez bomb that was just blasted out of Dodger Stadium. At any rate whether they were spitting on it or blasting it they were doing it looking like they knew it was coming...just completely comfortable that they were going to take it or blast it. That looks like tipping to me just as much as Ryu's looked like he was tipping his in Milwaukee.

The one that was crushed came out of his hand the wrong way and stayed flat and over the middle in. Kimbrel's command was not good in general. With so many pitches last night, he is probably cooked for at least game 5. Kelly probably is also as he went two very good innings. Barnes and Brasier should be available and possibly Porcello. Not sure what Sale's issue is. Could he have a tired arm?

I'm not sure what to make of this post. I was right, sorta. Pearce was the man obviously. But I thought about this post after Moreland got us back in the game. LOL.

The beautiful thing is that both Pearce and Moreland had huge contributions. That's the way it's been with this team.

Having some seasoned pros on a team is a big plus for the Sox. Moreland and Pearce of course but Nunez and Holt have also come through. DD has been smart with hs acquisitions.

With Eovaldi and Pearce, I think Dombrowski may have had the greatest deadline in the history of general managers.

Kinsler was a good move too, IMO. But not everything works out. :)

He's shored up the position defensively. Offensively he has been terrible - but the Sox have had way to work around that. It was a good move.

I could see Boston looking at another stopgap for next year (like Brian Dozier maybe) since you have to go in assuming Pedroia is not coming back.

I assume Pedroia will come back but I doubt if he can handle a full season on that knee.. We need to prepare for that eventuality. I would prefer a younger and improving player coming up either from our organization or through a trade. Dozier might be too expensive for us and we will probably get Holt back to fill in.

This is Brian Dozier’s chance for a big payday, and he won’t be looking for “stopgap” money and years, ditto DJ LeMahieu.

So if the Sox pursue either, it would appear to be an attempt to replace Pedroia permanently. Stopgap players are names like Jed Lowrie, who is 35 and not likely to get multiple years, and Logan Forsythe.

If the Sox are moving on from Pedroia, Dozier and LeMahieu are in play. But I would imagine the Lowrie/Forsythe types are more likely...

There is an argument here for the late Dallas Green, GM of the Cubs in 1984 who acquired Rick Sutcliffe (16-1, 2.69 ERA after the trade)...

He's 32 coming off of a terrible season - how big is his market really?

That was just a great game last night - the comeback, the raw emotion. Baseball should market the crap out of Puig's reaction and ERod's reaction to that homerun. Game 3 was a heartbreaking, morbidly fascinating battle of wills, but Game 4 was just a magnificent baseball game.

And JBJ and Price and Kimbrel and Devers and Kelly and Barnes and Nunez and Moreland and all the catchers. It is amazing how so much vitriol can be aimed at so many players on such a great and successful team.

It has seemed all year that if the Sox were behind midway through the game that they'd come back late and win. Does anyone know how to find runs scored by the Sox, by inning?

And please don't answer that question with a 'yes' or 'no'. :) Obviously I'm trying to confirm or debunk what I think I've observed and I need help.

Thanks

The thing with Puig’s reaction(s) had me a little baffled. When Moreland hit his 3 run shot, LAD were actually still ahead by one run. Puig was still in the OF and acted like the game was over. Like Dave Chapelle once said “ That’s some brittle-ass spirit”.

You wear your heart on your sleeve - it's just a mode of expression. That's why I loved ERod's spiking of the glove. When something such high stakes happens, nothing wrong with acting like it's ... you know ... high stakes. Unwritten rules hooey is cutural and get off my lawn bias. I like the players who show how much this matters. I know it matters to me.

Sure but... he looked absolutely defeated to me. And at the time was still winning. Take it how you want.
