You need to go back to the drawing board. You were in the right place, but for the to Wright. It also doesn’t help that Beeks s*** on himself when he was given a chance. He isn’t ready to step in.

Dang, didn't see that coming. Not good at all.

The back story is that he wrenched his knee from all the torque he placed on it turning to watch where the missiles were landing in his last start. He also has a slight case of whiplash.

Hey not so fast on that dream ...there's still smoke in that chamber .

I hope Johnson moves into the rotation during Wright's absence. I won't complain if Velazquez or Beeks get a shot though.

How about 1 start Velesquez 1 start Johnson 1 start Beeks

Where is Pom?

DL right..be great to use those 3 and Pom at week 4 and by then Wright and Pom should be ok .Move as though we are Buisiness as usual make trades as if also.

I was wondering how close he was to a return.

I'm thinking realistic return is 3 weeks .No need to rush him back use those 3 and when they pitch they must be in for 5 minimum we cannot tax the BP that's the key ...hope for a split of 2 and 2 before his return .

Wright's injury is the same knee.

I'm not sure if being hopeful is all that realistic.

This sucks.

Pom is too far away and might not be the answer anyways.

Haley, Johnson and Velzaquez are decent fill-in starters, but we better not have to use them the rest of the year.

Isn't Prices elbow still possibly an issue? He elected not to have TJ correct?

I thought he is just kind of hanging in there until it goes and it could go at any time?

Nasty.

But funny.

Just how much would smiley cost in Tampa ?

?????

Two offseasons ago Tampa Bay traded Drew Smyly to Seattle, which non-tendered the lefthander after he underwent Tommy John surgery without pitching a single game for the Mariners.

In December 2017 the Chicago Cubs signed Smyly to a two-year contract in anticipation that Smyly will return to action in 2019.

I would prefer the Sox go with who they think is most promising and give him 3 starts.

Hopefully, it is only a couple of weeks and not more.

From what I read this morning, Pom will throw a sim game today, and he will need a couple of rehab starts before he will be able to return to the rotation. It will be at least the until the All Star break before he is ready to return.

Johnson gets the start on Thursday and the Sox will piece together Wright's rotation spot based on how Johnson and others do.

Seems like kind of a dick move to non-tender a guy who's in the middle of recovering from Tommy John...but maybe that's just me. I'm sure it has happened before.

The Seattle Mariners had only one year of team control left with Drew Smyly, a year that was jeopardized by the lefthander's Tommy John surgery. The Mariners did not want to pay Smyly upwards of $7 million for a single season in which Smyly might not pitch. Seattle reportedly tried to match the two-year, $10 million contract signed with the Chicago Cubs last December.

Smyly might pitch in relief later this year ... or not:

Based on what DD said yesterday, it looks like Wright will be back before Pom.

He WAS good.... long ago.

The last time he pitched, he had a 4.88 ERA in 2016.

Why do you love guys like this but give up on our own players after small sample size failures and/ or injury histories?
