hahahaha.

remember when some of us said he intentionally went after Pedroia?

yup.

dude is a punk. will fit right in next year in pinstripes.....

What a great game to watch last night.

Getting out to a quick lead helped lessen the stress a little.

Eovaldi looked awesome. If we had Bregman at 3B, instead of our circus of clowns, our playoff starter ERA would be about halved.

JBJ has chosen the exact right time to have his customary red hot streak.

Pearce has been a real gem.

Let's hope Porcello continues his good pitching and we take the first 2 in Houston.

GO SOX!

Last season there were a few of us who were saying that Machado is a punk and some posters came to Machado's defense saying that he's a nice Christian boy and would never do such a dastardly thing as intentionally slide into Dustin Pedroia.

The evidence is mounting that he's a punk and a dirty player. As he said in his own "defense" (if you can call this a defense), "I'm not the kind of player who's going to be Johnny Hustle". No, you're certainly not Johnny Hustle, Manny. Being Johnny Hustle is a good thing. You're more of a danger to everyone who plays the game.

I hope he stays in the National League where he's at least not ruining the careers of other Red Sox players.

Just as I was thinking. The defense at 3rd continues to be a weakness, and there is little to be done about it this year. The offense from 2nd base is also a weakness due to Kinsler's slump. We can play Holt there with a defensive/offensive tradeoff.

Just a side comment. The Yankees have a lineup full of really large players with major power, while both the Astros and the Red Sox have a lot of really good smaller players who still can hit. Astros (Altuve, Bregman, Kemp), Red Sox (betts, Beni, JBJ, Pearce). Don't know if there is any significance to this but the Astros and Red Sox are playing in the ALCS while the Yankees are out.

I can’t stand Machado and it would have been pure karma had he injured himself on a play like this but Aquilar has his foot right on top of the base. I played a lot of first backnin the day and one of the main lessons is always use the edge of the base when taking a throw to avoid situations just like this.

I don't read too much into it. The large players the Yankees have are corner players, where you'd expect it. The Red Sox smaller players are up the middle dudes, where you expect the smaller guys to play. I mean Bogaerts is pretty big for a SS. If anything, the Red Sox emphasis on scouting and drafting has been to basically draft shortstops and centerfielders - which makes sense. It's where you play your best athletes (especially at the amateur level).

Moon, I'm very offended by this comment. Is Devers really "our circus of clowns"?

We have f***ING $233 CB Payroll this year. Who's f***ing fault is that we have to live with our circus of clowns at 3B position? You are going to put the blame on a 21 year old?

I hope Devers someday shove his 40HRs up your ASS.

Teams that live and die by the home run, often die early.

No data to back this up, but as the pitching improves for the playoffs, those scrappy base hit guys seem to do better than the big beefy HR guys.

Circus of clowns on defense, yes. That was clearly my point.

I'm a huge Devers fan, but his 3B defense is awful. I warned about this exact situation before the year started (see my sig Moose not Moreland rants).

He can improve. He's got decent range. Foot work and arm accuracy can be worked on. If he doesn't get any better on defense, I'm not sure we can risk another playoff cycle with that defense.

I'm real close to saying he should be moved to 1B next year. Trade the duplicate lefty bat value Moreland and save some money at the same time.

Find a real 3Bman who can field and hit. The rest of the resources goes to pen upgrades. We'll look at 2B after the season starts.

Let Devers hit 45 HRs at 1B/DH next year.

I don't blame DD for not doing better at 3B. He signed JD and brought the team right up to the $40M penalty line without going over. There was nothing left to spend on 3B. He spent $11M on Nunez and chose Moreland over Moose.

I don't see how anyone can defend Machado on this play. OK, Aguilar had his foot on the top of the base but Machado had fully half the base to tag. MM even dragged his left foot in the dirt prior to making contact with Aguilar so his intent was obvious. Watch the first video here and then tell me that it wasn't a dirty play.

Then look at the second one and tell me that he's not a punk. "I come to play baseball and try to play for my team. If that's what they say it's what they say".

LOS ANGELES -- Manny Machado is making a name for himself in ways both welcome and unwanted in this National League Championship Series. Before he hit a broken-bat single, advanced to second on a wild pitch and jetted home on Cody Bellinger's walk-off single to right field in the 13th inning

Machado is a punk and a dirty player and it's catching up with him.

Not defending him but unlike his slides at second there was something the first baseman could have done to mitigate things. Like I said, it would have been pure karma had he injured himself with that second maneuver with the left foot.

Really sad thing is guys like that never seem to get hurt doing that crap.

His defense sucks, but that doesn't mean I don't like him.

Didn't he win a Minor League Defensive Player of the Year award in 2016?

Either he's struggling to adjust or nervous, or the rest of the minor league players in 2016 couldn't catch a cold if they were naked in Norway...

No bw ss likely wouldn't but I might. I'm really glad that we don't have the guy but he isn't the first nor will he be the last "dirty player" to play the game. I just don't like him but what the hell I lost a lot of respect for Pedroia last year as well. I would never condone doing anything to harm another player intentionally but even though some people scoff at and want to see the "unwritten rules" of baseball eliminated, I think that they will always be practiced. At some point in time Machado will experience payback. He is going to have to live with that and with himself for dong what he does.

I'm not sure who's available in the off-season to get to play 3B. I'm sure this is a horrible idea, but if there aren't any good third basemen available, would it be an option to move Bogaerts to third and acquire a shortstop instead?

No. Devers is fine for now.

Devers is still 21 years old and is listed at 239 pounds, which is not exactly where you would like a mobile 3rd baseman to be. If he tends to add pounds, he would probably not improve his range at 3rd. If he can learn to play 1st, it is likely where he will end up. The question is whether the team will make that move as soon as next year. If it does, then it would not make sense to hold onto 2 left handed 1st basemen so your possibility of trading Moreland is a reasonable assumption. For now, it looks like Devers will be our primary 3rd baseman for the PO's with Nunez nursing injuries.

His range is decent, it's his arm that's killing him right now.

If you look back in my posts I've been consistently saying that I DON'T WANT MANNY MACHADO ON THIS TEAM NO MATTER HOW CHEAPLY DD COULD GET HIM FOR!

The reason for that is quite simple. I'm a Red Sox fan and I don't want to be put in the position of trashing 'one of my own' if he continued to be a thug - and there's no evidence that he wouldn't do that.

But I'd do it.. in a heartbeat.

Do you think you can comprehend that, troll?
