Here are the pitching match ups for the series:

Thursday...7pm....CC 6-4/ 3.53 vs Johnson 1-3/ 3.45

Friday.....7pm....Severino 14-4/ 2.94 vs Porcello 13-4/ 4.03

Saturday...4pm....Happ (perhaps) 11-6/ 4.05 vs Eovaldi 4-4/ 3.80

Sunday....8pm...Tanaka 9-2/ 3.84 vs Price 11-6/ 3.97

Looks like some pretty good match ups. I am most interested in seeing how Price responds to his last outing against the Yankees, after coming off a gem in his last game.

Dammit I hate Sunday night games.

And based on his history I will be very surprised if Price has a good outing. I believe he was on a roll before his previous start against the Yankees as well. Seems like it's a mental hurdle for him.. but we shall see.

Sunday night games are the worst, not only because of the time, but mostly because of the nauseating announcing team.

I have my fingers crossed for Price. Pitching against the Yankees does seem to be in his head, something he needs to overcome.

It's going to be a great series! I'm just a little worried that our hitters are worn down.

I think our hitters were pacing themselves for this upcoming series. ;)

Yankees fans, prepare to be bludgeoned!

ESPN stinks at covering baseball, from hiring a PED guy in A-Rod to hiring a dummy like David Ross. I watched the Tuesday game on ESPN, Ross covered it along with Rick Sutcliffe. I've always liked Sutcliffe but Ross is brutal. I would definitely say he is the worst announcer that I've ever heard. He thinks he is funny, he constantly tells jokes, but he isn't funny at all. By teaming him with Sutcliffe, a good announcer, he drowns out what would otherwise be some decent commentary and insights. Ross didn't seem prepared for the game at all--he spends so much time talking about his own experiences in baseball and he never stopped talking about his time with the Cubs.

In addition, how often on Tuesday night did ESPN show the announcers in the booth? It happened more than I can ever remember in a football or baseball game. It seemed like every inning ESPN would give us a shot of the announcers having fun in the booth with Ross playing the lead role of idiot. Ross has a teenager mentality--he never grew up.

Some people think Ross is a future managerial candidate? I don't see it. You have to be reasonably intelligent to succeed as a manger. A.Boone never acted like a teenager in the booth.

I dislike A-Rod for other reasons--the guy has no credibility. He constantly lied to the public about PEDs. He was a cheater and so his insights don't seem very convincing to my ears. He never addresses the PEDs either, just ignores the issue like it never happened. Is ESPN going to hire Ryan Braun too when he retires? Probably.

If the Red Sox get a split in this series, I'll be happy. No Sale, and Price is an automatic loss on Sunday. That means the Red Sox have to win 2 out of the first three to gain a split. The other problem on Sunday is Tanaka--he has been decent lately. The guy never throws strikes and constantly relies on the opposing team to swing at pitches out of the zone. The Red Sox will probably chase the splitter in the dirt and have limited offensive success against Tanaka while Price gives up 10 runs.

All the Sox need to do is split. If they do that I’m a happy guy.

Exactly. Of course, winning the series or sweeping them would be better, but if we split, we maintain our lead and knock another 4 games off the schedule.

The sight and sound of ARod turns me off, so he could be the best announcer in the world, and I wouldn't be able to stand him. Apparently, he was pretty good when he worked in the studio (I didn't listen to him), but I don't like him at all as an announcer.

Outside of the Sunday night crew, I really haven't had any issues with ESPN announcers. I like Sutcliffe, as do you. I probably have a bias towards David Ross, but I didn't have a problem with him in the booth.

Where is Sunny Gray? Is he ducking us? Boonie?

Say what you will about Price, but at least he is facing his demons on Sunday night.

ducking us didn't help Gray. The Orioles are eating his lunch right now.

Orioles spanking the Yanks 5-0 in top of second. NYY has plenty of time to comeback but the O's will make them sweat a little, maybe get the blind luck game. This offensive explosion was off none other than Sonny Boy Gray, who truly sucks .

Gray: 2.2 IP, 8 H, 2 BB, 7 ER, 3 K

Imagine how bad that could have been if he wasn't facing the worst team in baseball.

Oh Sonny!

It's a huge test for Price. I don't want to hear another "Yankees are my Daddy" speech afterwards.

Get out of Sunday night with a split and leave the Yankees 5+- down with 4 fewer to play. That would be acceptable since we are facing their top 3 pitchers while our hitters couldn't hit the ocean falling off a Wicked Tuna boat right now.

A Sox sweep would pretty much put an end to the division race. Three out of four would come pretty close to it. The Yankees are reeling and ready to be put away.

It was nice of the Yankees to give us another 1/2 game before heading into tomorrow.

The problem is, our offence has been spluttering a bit since we came off the AS break.

This is a great opportunity for Brian Johnson. If he has a strong start, carries the Red Sox to the win, I don't see how the Red Sox could take him out of the rotation when Sale returns. Pomeranz should be the one to go.

Does anyone know Devers' timetable for returning? I would like to see him return ASAP so that I don't have to watch Nunez anymore (OPS+ 76).

What if both Johnson & Pom pitch great next start?
