Exactly how could they crack down on it aside from sending someone out to the house to check on them?

That might be necessary. Lying and stealing from someone who supplies your livelihood is reprehensible. Needs to be stopped. How would you like it if Aaron Boone called in sick for the wild card game so he could go fishing? Then again , that might actually be a blessing for the Yankees. Bad example.

While I certainly don't condone lying and stealing from one's employer (although I would venture to say many posters here are guilty of being on this site while at work, which is the same thing), I just don't see how it would make fiscal sense for employers to take one employee out from work to check on another employee who called in sick.

And in many cases these people may be using their sick or personal days.

I would say that the posters in here all day while on company time is a much more egregious offense than taking one random day off, especially when it may have been a sick/personal day that the employee may have been entitled to.

. I certainly don't condone any goofing off on the job. But that sort of thing should be relatively easy for management / supervision to control.

LOL :0 it's called Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter, etc.....

Young people today are so clueless, they give themselves away every time the try to do something on the down-low....

You'd think they would know the power of social media, but every time my son ever did ANYTHING stupid, I found out about it in almost real time.

LMFAO :0

He still wonders hows we knew about all his "f-ups..."

p.s. I give my employer 2hrs / day avg. Unpaid time coming in early & leaving late.

I take an average of 1 sick day per year, tops. Most years, O.

IF... I took a "sick day to watch a big game? They'd owe it to me in spades....

BUT.... I certainly wouldn't go see a game in PUBLIC like a kid!!!!! I'd go in drag.

Most places of work I know have personal days, but I guess if you have used them all, calling in sick and hoping you don't get caught is what you have to do.

It's the Sox we're talking about.

Let's get out priorities in line here, guys!

I can't even face taking sick days...

I do have a bank of sick & personal days, but feel too guilty to take them. Doesn't stop me from dreaming....

A few years ago, I faked a sick day, & the Sox got pounded in a big game.

I'll never do that again! I did have a scratchy throat though... LOL :0

Understood, but not everyone is an idiot.

Does remind me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine gets caught at the Yankee game because she was in the paper wearing her orioles hat!
