He catches every fifth day. A new guy could get up to speed pretty quick. I’m not advocating for the change.

I'm not so sure anone else can "get uo to speed" all that quickly. The catcher-pitcher dynamic is not something to mess with.

If, and this might be a big if, Leon is the reason Porcello becomes Cy Young material again this year, then he could bat .000 the rest of the way and still be worth it.

He must be doing something right to K close to 2 per inning.

I wonder if one of his secondary pitches turned into a plus pitch or something like that? I would like to see him get a start in the major leagues at some point soon--skip one of Sale's starts to keep him fresh for October. If Beeks keeps pitching like this, you have to take a look at him, don't you? And forget moving him to the bullpen at this point, not with these numbers.

It's early, still, but if he keeps going like this, I agree.

Our old buddy Mauricio Dubon is hitting .343 at Triple AAA. Almost a sure thing he'll be called up soon for the Brewers.

So far so good for Tyler Thornburg, another good appearance last night. 1 inning, 1 hit, 1 K.

Leaving in a few minutes for the PawSox game this afternoon. Sheffield making his debut for Scranton Yanks, Justin Haley going for PawSox.

Not bringing the Bruins any Luck by watching them, so take the wife, and get some fresh air.

Yeah, we should never make another trade. They're a really bad idea, because you might actually be giving up something of value. :P

Or we could continue to make trades and just learn to not overpay for sore armed pitchers who’s ucl is held together with duct tape and bubble gum.

Maybe it's our crack medical examination unit that's at fault. They've had their issues long before DD came along.

That is an excellent point. You would think given the city and the medical facilities in the area, we would have a medical staff second to none.

Yet, we seem to have a staff of doctor, All with mail order degrees.

At this very minute something is wrong with price’s arm. Either circulation or ucl or the famous “something is torn in there”. What is the medical staff doing about this?

How did this franchise wind up at the mercy of their medical staff?

Rusney hit good today, 3 line drives for hits 2 off Sheffield. Haley pitched a good game. Sheffield had 1st inning jitters, then settled down and looked very good.

Pretty sorry line-up if you ask me. Not much there.

Talking to people about Thornburg, he was hitting 97 mph last night.

Last year Rusney hit .395 against LHP.....this year so far .390. I could never see a batter that smashes Lefties like that, sitting in the Minors because of money. Sheffield is a Lefty, had no problem with him.

By the way JBJ is hitting .088 against Lefties this year.

Some of his trades have been brutal. And his draft picks aren't replenishing the system. You couldn't decimate a farm system more if you tried.

I understand why he had to trade for starters like sale and Pomeranz. Those trades make sense, even though everybody knows pomeranz’s ucl could snap at a monent’s notice.

What I am perplexed with are the non closer bullpen trades and dave’s draft picks?

1.) Why overpay for two guys known to have bad arms?

2.) Why must he draft kids that other teams pass over? It’s like the other teams have scouting systems that have depth, purpose, research and team goals,

Meanwhile Dave is drafting based on what he reads on the bill James website. Does he even listen to his scouting staff is telling him?

I know I'm somewhat of a DD apologist, but he inherited a team with no pitching and not a huge amount of payroll room thanks to the Pablo/Hanley contracts. So he had little choice to trade prospects for pitching, as far as I can see.

The team wins 93, 93, and starts this year 25-9.

He can't have done all that badly with his moves so far.

The future might be a different story, of course.

DD traded a lot for Kimbrel, Thornburg & Smith. He also spent a huge amount of our payroll on Price.

He created a strong window period that is about half way over.

Kimbrel: A guy who'd be the Sox 4th OF and minor leaguers that haven't panned out

Thornburg: The only complaint at the time was the loss of Dubron

Smith: gave up nothing of value

We also lost Travis Shaw- not a prospect.

Margot might play over JBJ, or we could have traded JBJ.

We also spent a lot of payroll on Kimbrel, although the FA markey ballooned after the trade.

It’s really a domino affect when it comes to the Thornburg trade.

First, thornburg has provided us nothing since we acquired him.

Second, I saw him pitch earlier this year and at the time, his breaking balls did not break, at all. They were just meatballs waiting to get smacked! I understand that he is improving his breaking balls as of now. So maybe one day Thornburg contributes. I hope so.

Third, Once Dave traded Shaw, Dave went into last season with sandavol as the only non-utility third baseman in the roster. After sandavol imploded, which everybody and their mother was saying was going to happen, he rushed devers to the big leagues. Devers natural development was forever retarded because of that move.

If devers career craters because he can't Define the strike zone or his defensive woes mentally hinder him, it is directly attributable to dave’s idiotic trade for a broke down sore armed reliever with decent numbers.

Remember Dave, nothing beats getting eyes on a player before you over pay for that player in a trade! Your scouts are professionals, please listen to them before over ruling them. Hear what they have to say. It’s what you pay them for!

This is why most of the baseball operations department deserted us for greener pastures.

Dubon has suffered an injury.
Some Brewers fans have clamored for a promotion of infield prospect Mauricio Dubon, who has a 23-game hitting streak going in Triple-A, but Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Dubon incurred a knee injury over the weekend and is headed to Milwaukee to be examined by team physician Dr. William Raasch. Farm director Tom Flanagan tells Haudricourt that the hope is that Dubon is dealing only with a strain, though the organization won’t know until further testing and imaging is performed.

NOBODY GAVE A s*** ABOUT TRAVIS SHAW WHEN THEY MADE THAT TRADE. Seriously, no one on here complained.

True, and I was one of them, but why is it okay to judge Margot and others in hindsight, based on what they have done since the trade, but not do the same with Shaw?

Let's face it, most people judge all these deals in hindsight.

Even Kimbrel's subpar 2016 season gets factored into assessments of that trade.

Shaw is a somewhat unusual case because we saw him for a whole season in 2016 and his production took a very unexpected leap forward at the major league level.

Agreed, and if Margot takes a "leap", then the Kimbrel trade may be judged differently.

The entire Minor League Developmental System needs to be rebuilt.

Baird and Crockett must go. Fresh faces are needed to revamp the scouting department much like Epstein did back in 03.

Not being able to develop pitching has been the downfall. Result over pay, over trade as we have seen in this “win now”market.

LOL great thinking Stork, except for one thing: Epstein's scouting department never developed any pitching either.
