Not really. Poor bat tool.

Although a .365+ OBP is not always transferable to MLB, I think there is hope. He is still raw, so maybe late 2019 is the earliest we could hope for.

(I realize Chavis offers a better hope, but I think Ockimey has more upside than Travis.)

I'm worried about his high k's and overall streakiness.

Chavis plays 2b?

He was 2B in high school - obviously playing 3B right now. I would not be surprised (thought I read somewhere) if they tried him at 2B just in case (although odds of him staying there seem low).

How many of you would agree to this?

Sign JD Martinez

Trade JBJ for Danny Salazar (CLE wants a lefty bat and both players have 3 arbs left)

Then sign a 1Bman like Morrison and trade Wright for a lefty RP'er.

I like it but I still would prefer not to loose JBJ. Is Salazar healthy?

Salazar is a terrific pitcher, but I prefer my pitchers actually pitch. Is he going to be a Brett Anderson level tease - putting together Cy Young caliber results in between season destroying injuries

Theo is trying to trade for him, so if the best GM in the history of MLB wants him, he must be happy with his health.

I think they are only working him in at 1B for now. I'm not sure they think he has the footwork to play up the middle.

Jeter wants the Marlins to be contracted.

They're looking to trade Yelich next.

Total sell-off and sell-out.

Why did MLB even let these guys buy the team, if they can't afford to run it?

The Marlins will be a travesty

There may be AAA teams that will be better than Miami next year.

Ours might be.

BTW, the Marlins aren't done yet. If I were them, I'd deal Bour, Urena, Realmuto and Yelich. If the window is looking to be 5 years, then why waste time with guys who wont be there. Blow the whole thing up, collect prospects, collect draft picks, aggressively sign INTL guys and do things the right way. Go all the way

They will.

Word is out, Yelich is next.

Jeter was over a barrel. Stanton’s no-trade limited his options and they had to shed his salary. Plus, he did manage to get Castro who he can flip and Guzman. Devers has a high ceiling but he’s eons away

Whether or not Jeter deserves flak for the Stanton trade, he is off to a dismal start in his ownership career, appearance-wise at least. Not sure what he was thinking stepping into this cesspool of a franchise.

Cards Traded Piscotty, so they should get a good return from the A's for him, in Prospects.

Cardinals should move Grichuk next, whose a pretty underrated power bat...

Jeter did not attend the winter meetings to explain or discuss the trade, but instead attended a football game not too far away. More bad optics.

was also a really humane thing for them to do

They did not have to shed HIS salary.

Why did they absolutely HAVE to get rid of the best young slugger in the game? They should have gutted the team of everyone EXCEPT Stanton, then build around the best young power hitting in the game.
