I'm good.

Why sign Santana to a multi-year contract when you can just bring back Moreland?

Santana's numbers are not that much better than Moreland's.

At last someone else sees reason.

For what he'll probably want, yes I do.

If the Sox are going to spend money to improve, why "sort of" improve?

More common sense.

or "Moreland" common sense.

What are the chances DD comes up empty handed in seeking a big bat?

If he does not get Martinez or even Santana or Abreu, what then?

What other moves could he make to bolster this team?

700hitter predicted a crowd-pleaser before tickets go on sale, but it sure doesn't look that way.
We still have some time. Tickets go on sale on Saturday, December 16th. I will stand by the prediction.,, for now.

I think that you are safe. People getting a little uptight due to the lack of moves made. That is interesting. what I would say is when was the last move that DD telegraphed out to anybody? He doesn't seem to work that way. My bet is that something big will come our way. I sill think that it will be Martinez which very well might then lead to a trade of one of our outfielders. Maybe he winds up being the dh or maybe he doesn't. Personally, Martinez is on my wish list.

I'm pretty sure I read DD plans to use Hanley at 1B. Do we ever pay attention to what he says? I've not heard mgmt say anything about Devers to 1B. But we spend countless space talking about his impending cliff, oops, impending move to 1B.

Dombrowski also said that Devers would not be called up to the majors anytime soon (or something to that effect), then called him up about a week later.

He also said that there were no offseason surgeries scheduled, which was promptly followed by at least 3 offseason surgeries.

So no, we don't really pay attention to what he says.

I would be fine with Moreland.

I would be fine with staying status quo offensively.

There is no doubt in my mind that Dombrowski is going to get us a big bat. Not that I think it's necessary, but everyone else does.

The Red Sox have placed left-hander Henry Owens on outright waivers, fueling speculation of a pending acquisition:

I'm actually surprised Owens lasted this long. I guess that's a statement against the depth and quality of rule 5 prospects we had this year.

A once untouchable prospect who turned into a wasted asset.

Then he moves on to Morrison, Bruce and Duda...

Yeah I sort of expect that but what else? Adding one of those guys approximately replaces the production of Moreland and the team is essentially the same offensively.

What other pieces would then be added to make the team better?

So you are saying that he's a liar. This is by far the most disappointing post coming from you. Because you don't like the way he traded away your precious farm boys, you don't trust the guy that runs baseball operations for your beloved Sox? Desperate Dave from Larry, Lying Dave from Kimmi. Good to know.

Whoop whoop!

I wouldn't get too excited, they might only be trying to remove him from the 40 man roster.

Looks like it. I'd like to see it, make spring training exciting to watch for the first time since Michael Jordan was playing baseball.

It's patently obvious that Kimmi's point is that Dombroski isn't in the habit of revealing every single detail or move to fans. He clearly plays things close to his chest on times and is a fan of misdirection when it suits.

Still, at least you managed to take a cheap jibe at her for stating the obvious, eh?

Who could he possibly be misdirecting by saying nobody is going to have surgery this winter?

I find it very interesting that out of the five or six guys at the bottom of the 40 man roster, desperate dave waived Owens.

But regardless, we now have a spot open and it looks like we are signing or trading for someone soon.

Martinez, abreu, hosmer????

My personal favorite is Adams.

Aiming low?

Very.

Not with this clubs resrouces. Not with this GM's willingness to trade away dollar scratch tickets (so called prospects).

DD gets a bad name for depleting the minors. While it may have hurt in Detroit where they dont win, and where they dont have big market payroll, in Boston....we have the monetary assets to make up for dealing prospects.

IMO, thats all the minor league system is, a dollar scratch ticket. Some teams have to rely heavily on developing minor league talent, like the Marlins......but what do the Marlins do with that talent once they develop it? They trade it away it the big dogs, like the RedSox....for their own low minors scratch tickets.

Other than Jeff Bagwell, let me know when the RedSox get hosed trading their minor league talent away, while getting nothing in return.

DD spent like a maniac while in Detroit. Their budget has actually been higher than the Sox in 3 of the last 4 seasons.

DD inherited a team that was spending about $50M a year and took it to ...

$139M in '09 (Sox $140M under Theo)

$136M in '10 (Sox $171M)

$113M in '11 (Sox $174M)

$141M in '12 (Sox $175M under Ben)

$155M in '13 (Sox $176M)

$173M in '14 (Sox $168M)

$173M in '15 (Sox $186M)

(DET spent $212M in 2016 and $200M in 2017)

(BOS spent $204M in 2016 and $197M in 2017 under DD)

The Tigers are no poor team, and their high payroll budget the last 2 years are a result of DD's wild spending, some of which are listed below...

Miggy $248M/8

Fielder $214M/9 (traded for KinslerKinsler $75M/5 )

Verlander $180M/7 (since traded away)

J Upton $132M/6

A Sanchez $80M/6

VMart $68M/4

Why is this an issue? They print money at Fenway. Big market teams are always going to spend more money. Its not your money, its not my money.....if it puts a better product on the field, who cares?

You should learn how to properly reply to someone elses post, its confusing. Why do you BOLD all of your posts? Are you yelling?
