Shows how much chance Castillo and Brentz have this year.

I like speed. I like players who can hit as well as run better.

Meh.

I've gotta think that DD wanted the veteran presence there for the stretch run. There's no substitute for having "been there".

For sure. We saw it with Aaron Hill last year and John McDonald in 2013

Brentz #29 & 30 tonight. 82 RBI's. Sox brass must be convinced he can't help. I understand that he would have trouble cracking the powerful line up we have , but can't remember ever having a guy at AAA with power stats like that and not getting called up.

They have to find a way to give him a look, that's for sure.

He could be valuable in playoffs with his elite speed off the bench. He also seems to be one of those guys who has a knack for coming up with big hits in big situations. I like the move.

They weren't going to get one for what they were giving up.

Anyway the Sox seem to always have one of these Dave Roberts-Quintin Berry types ready for the post-season. ...

I like the trade. Davis is a veteran presence. He still has excellent speed and can fill in as an outfielder. His poor hitting line misses that of late he has hit over 300. With Bradley out, this is someone we need. Good going into the playoffs as well. Just hope this doesn't mean Bradley will be out for too long.

This move makes me wonder about the severity of Bradley's injury.

He's on the DL, right? You need as many bullets as possible while he's out.

Davis has a Fenway swing too. Ought to work well with the Wall.

You mean we're getting a second Nunez? And one with speed? I'm loving this more and more

It's almost like they plan on doing a lot of running this next month and in the post season. I like it. I hate having a slow team on the base paths. Not just SBs but being able to pinch run if need be, scoring from 2B on a single... etc. I'm really diggin' these small pieces were adding on for a playoff run.

With the quality of pitching in the playoffs, they're definitely planning an aggresive running game.

I love every bit of it. It's what we've been doing to near perfection all season, and it's what got us there in 2004. Everywhere I've gone today, I've seen people comparing this to Dave Roberts in 2004. Hopefully, the end result is us using Rajai to topple Dave Roberts in the World Series.

Thanks Dave!

Another one of those depth type moves that might end up paying larger dividends than I would expect.

Just saw a brief interview of Davis on the pre-game show.

That guys seems mature and professional. Very articulate.

Both Dombrowski and Farrell have had good experiences with him.

Dombrowski had been looking at getting Davis for several weeks. That may help answer a700s question.

I've always heard good things about him as a teammate and he seems like a good professional player. + his ability to play all outfield positions and his elite speed will be of good value in playoffs. As I've said before, I think this is a really solid acquisition for while JBJ is injured, and for the playoffs.

This ^^

I think we are not being told the truth about JBJs injury, not that we deserve to be told the truth. Initially I thought that this was a poor acquisition, but Davis is hitting over .300 for about the past five weeks with an OPS of over .800. If he can stay hot he can help the team.
