1 for 4 last night. We really can't have a bunch of .250 hitters in the lineup. Send him down or trade him for a proven utility guy.

I know you're joking, but this is why it's all about OPS now. His hit was a homer and he also had a walk. So, his SLG for the game was 1.000 and his OBP was .400 for a rocking OPS of 1.400.

FanGraphs columnist Dave Cameron discusses Rafael Devers and Fenway Park:

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/we-need-to-talk-about-rafael-devers/

The point about Sandoval was interesting - and one I certainly thought made sense in the "Pro" section of signing him. Sandoval always had pull power (see his 3 HR WS game) - but largely had a high contact, spray the ball approach. He was like an impatient Wade Boggs, who could just spray the monster with line drives. Alas ...

Thanks for the link. It's too bad those who judge you harshly don't seem to remember your posts like this one.

Why are you praising a guy for the ability to cut and paste?

There's no reason NOT to play the hot hand. We all know who is hot and who is cooling off. I would love to see Brentz get the call. 22 homers is pretty impressive.

If you call up Brentz, (and insert him in the lineup) who goes to the bench? Do you breakup the outfield trio of the 3 B's? Or sit Hanley and let Brentz take over DH? If he's not going to get regular playing time, is it not in his best interest to remain in Pawtucket where he can further hone his skill set?

Maybe someday we can see...

1. Pedey

2. Beni

3. Nunez

4. Betts

5. Devers

6. HRam

7. JBJ

8. Moreland-Young

9. Vaz

Are you seriously suggesting that Bogaerts gets benched in favor of Nunez?

No, this was a post within the context that Bogey would go on the DL after Pedey came back. I posted another line-up for after Bogey came off the suggested DL trip with Moreland going to the bench:

...and when Bogey comes of the suggested DL stint...

1. Pedey

2. Beni vs R/Bogey v R

3. Nunez

4. Betts

5. Devers

6. HRam

7. Bogey vs R/Beni v L

8. JBJ

9. Vaz

Bench: Moreland, Young, Holt, Leon

Because I'd have missed the article had he not provided it.

Geesh!

Brentz would first have to be added to the 40 man roster. I'd be fine with DFA'ing Selsky or Noe Ramirez.

I don't see us benching HRam for Brentz.

Once Pedey returns, Nunez will be squeezing Moreland and Young our of a line-up slot. Maybe Brentz could platoon with Beni, but that's not many PAs.'

I think we'll see BB in September.

I am a Seattle fan who is occasionally criticized on this forum for providing links to articles that cast the Red Sox is a less-than-positive light.

Objectivity is a heavy cross to bear.

To be precise, I did not (and never do) cut and paste. I ethically provided a link so that the site would receive a hit for anyone who accessed the column through my link.

i have enough windows open. I don't need to open more. Cut and paste with proper attribution would be appreciated. I have no interest in their clicks and I almost never click on links here. If I see a link with someone saying "an interesting read", I almost never click on it, but that is just me.

Expressed like someone who has never written anything of commercial value.

Some folks are good enough to get paid for what they write. FanGraphs pays its writers with revenue generated primarily through advertising. The advertising rates are set according to the number of hits each site (and each page) receive. A full-scale cut-and-paste deprives the site of those hits and the resulting advertising revenues.

No one forces anyone to click on a link but don't ask for a handout.

And this community is not free advertising for them. Sorry.

I don't care if he posts the link, but to say that it's an example of him (or anyone for that matter) contributing is wrong. He's just posting someone else's work.

Is this a gotcha moment?
Once a long time ago, I contemplated leaving the legal profession to be a writer, but then I decided that I liked to pay my bills.

I wouldn't have read a good article had harmony not posted the link.

I see it as a "contribution".

I never said whether it was a contribution or not. I just stated my preference. I rarely click on links unless they are Baseball-reference.com stats. I wasn't looking for a freebie. LOL!

It is never too late for that gig. A good fictional mystery read born in the bowels of Fenway Park. That would give Spud something else to occupy his post midnight life with. let's go!

Is that the Writers Guild of America East?

https://www.wgaeast.org/

Just curious.

I would think that a guild member would be particularly sensitive to cut-and-paste offenses on the internet.

When I joined it, there was no internet. If you wanted to protect your work from being stolen, you filed a paper copy with them and paid a fee.

I straddled both professions for more than a decade before abandoning journalism.

Not a good contract, for sure, but it should not have been the huge failure that it was.
