We'd all love to have Beltre, and you can bet he'd be very costly.

Yeah, that's why I've been leaning Harrison. I also like having Harisson if Pedey gets hurt we'd have some 2B insurance.... and then we'd most likely bring up Devers for 3B if that situation happened.

Harrison also costly. It's probably Frazier or nothing.

Frazier is a one trick pony. And that trick isn't defense.

Better off calling up Devers and if you must deal with the White Sox, trying to acquire Swarzak...

It all depends on the cost, but I completely agree about Frazier. Unlike others, I am not necessarily in love with the long ball.

Ah yes. Those big, dumb, right-handed .210 hitters -- something the RedSox have never been able to resist. (Let's see: Jack CLark, even Ray Boone, and who can forget Johnny Gomes? I'd add Dick Stuart, but that guy actually hit pretty well for them. And Mike Cameron didn't have the distinguishing features of most of the others, i.e., being white.)

Small sample size alert!

Just saw him play in AA last week. His swing looks odd to me (although 4-4 ain't bad!), but his defense was spectacular. Sadly, Lin is probably not going to get a fair shot.

On the other hand, Lin probably never dreamed of getting this much playing time this year. He has made the most of it.

Forget Panda. We have a VG 3rd baseman right now in LIN. Behind him, doesn't thiss kid Devers also play third? I can't help thinking about the ballyhood Moncada, and the unknown AA kid,Lin. Lin is now showing us why he was called up so early.

Time to lead-off with him. Put Mookie down here 6,7 or so. Take the enormious pressure he's been under.

Moving Mookie down to 6-7 would be one of the dumbest things we could do...

It wouldn't be considered so if he continues in a slump. He needs to wake up and I hope it is soon.

I would hope we can leave Lin up as our Utility guy and send Marerro down, but with Holt being called up it might not work with 2 left handed utility players up. Holt is written in at 3rd for the 2nd game unless something happens in the first game.

He needs to stay near top of the order. Even with his low average he's still our best offensive player. He'll create runs even when he slumping with his walks and base running. Moving him down will solve nothing.

Well another memorable day but if we can win the nightcap, we come away no worse than when the Yankees came in. They are not exactly killing the ball either.

Our hitting for the 3 games so far against the Yankees show 2 extra base hits in 34 innings. We got four hits with one extra base hit today. Sabbathia shut down our lefties and no one really hit well. JF's attempt to rest Hanley with Young just shows that Young is mired in a slump. Don't know how we break out of our general slump but would be happy if our pitching holds up and we can scratch out a few runs.

I was watching part of a Brewers game and saw tremendous spirit and energy when they did something well. It would be great to have a burst of energy and positive feeling with our guys. They are really downcast after being shutout twice in a row over 25 innings and at home against our rival at that.

Tonight Holt will start at 3rd and presumably Hanley will be DH and Pedey will be at second. Even though Beni didn't hit today, I assume he and JBJ will be in the outfield. The guys are tired but so are the Yankees. It will be interesting to see if Holt stays up or (Lin/Marrero) is sent down.

You are not seeing Devers at 3B before September if at all. The Sox can no longer get by with just defense at 3B so DD needs to get a power at at third ASAP! Frazier's numbers are better the last month. What else is out there that you don't have to give up the farm?

Any of the guys they have already. No .210 hitters needed at this point.

Then plan on a lot more games like the last two. One run, one extra basehit, in the last 25 innings. This is not a lineup that is getting the Sox to October.

We need some HR pop even if it comes with a low batting average. Fraziers OBP is .330. That is good enough.

I have been against this move because I believe it will be too little, too late.

Sox FO should not have ignored you for the past 6-7 years. We still need a RHH power bat, even if it is not in LF.

DD will make a move or two by the deadline if only to keep up appearances and the perception that he is all-in and doing what he can to bring this team to the promised land.

Frazier will need to be red hot to help this morbid offense.

The strange thing is that this team has enough pitching to win consistently. If they make it to the playoffs they stand a chance of advancing.

I'd feel a lot better if this team could score more runs.

Maybe. But I don't think one HR every 45 innings is going to change much.

When you're struggling for hitting, I'm not sure the best move is to take a guy who just came up, hit nearly .300 with the 2nd best OBP on the team, and send him down to make room for a .150 hitting utility player.

Hmmm...Small Sample Size alert on the .150.

It is good to have Holt to staff the bench ... especially given 12-13 man staffs. But yeah they need a real starter ...

Devers just hit his 2nd HR since being called up to AAA.
