Lol. He hit a 2 run dinger with the score 4-1 and the title of the video says his blast made the score 4-2.

He hit the ball so hard that the soul of the runner on base left his body so that run did not count.

Wrong vibe.

We heard over and over how Devers was Ethelred the Unready. Several of us said the Sox coaching and FO were in the best position to make that decision but also added that when he does come up if he looks like an all-star it will make the delay look stupid. Devers got 4 hits again tonight. It probably can't last, but he certainly has been impressive to date and with Nunez he is making the Sox offense almost respectable. How many games might he have got that one big hit we were so lacking?

I'm glad we got Nunez and finally called up Devers.

It's hard to know how well Devers would have done, if he was called up earlier. One has to think better than what we had before, but it's hard for me to criticize the decision. Maybe we called him up at exactly the right time, and that's why he is doing so well.

We'll never know.

I'm still shaking my head at the Yanks getting 3 playoff cycles from Sonny Gray for a couple of injured arms and another non-top prospect.

But that as the one position they did trade for...

Technically yes, but I think they got Nunez more as a DH and back-up for the injured Bogey, the lefty-challenged Beni and coverage at 2B, if Pedey got hurt (and he did).

And speaking of Pedey getting hurt, is that the same knee/leg that Machado f***ed up?

It is amazing how many infielders have spent time on the dl for us this year.

And equally amazing how many are playing hurt!

I know pedroia tried to play through it, and was producing, but now that we got Nunez, is it time for pedroia to get healthy.

Next we move to bogey. His wrist has to be bothering him. He is too good a hitter to be slick moving this badly.

GOOD POINT! but dont worry...pedey says it's OK machado took out his knee. "it's them not me".....

ps - pedroia is NOT a "dirt dog". dude takes more days off than Manny ever did.

but he's a white so it's ok.

No, he's a dirt dog. He's just a dirt dog that has frequent vet visits.

Pedroia averages 137 games a year (only counted full seasons, not rookie year or this year).

Manny averaged 140 his first 7 years with the Sox (didn't count half 2008 season).

Pedroia has a lengthy history of playing through injuries and trying to be a gamer. My only wonder is if other Sox are doing the same thing? It's a long season and I don't think other players get the same credit that Pedroia does when he dealing with a thumb or a knee or whatever. Xbo was playing with a banged up wrist. Betts and Nunez both ran hard into the wall in the past few games.

Now that they have a real super utility guy in Nunez, they need to give all their regulars a good amount of rest down the stretch. If they make the playoffs, they'll need everyone to be healthy.

I will definitely not contribute to the conspiracy that talking to the media (ala Price and Pedroia) gets you put directly on the DL and away from fans.

Pedey's played in over 140 games in 5 of his last 6 seasons.

He played in 140 games or more in 2 of 4 before that. It looks to me like he's playing more as he ages.

Over 140 games in 5 of last 6? Nope. 2015 - 93 games. 2014 - 135 games.

He had serious injuries in 2010 and 2015. Time will tell how many games he ends up with this year.

Holt is also still useful as a super utility player. He was key in last night's game offensively and defensively. He made a heck of a throw to cut down a runner at second. Benintendi's play out there has been very inconsistent and he has pulled quite a few rocks out there. Unless he starts mashing the ball, I would consider giving Holt more time out there.

You're right, sorry. 4 of 6 with 140 or more vs 2 of 4 with 140 or less.

Wow, we're down to making rash decisions based on one game sample sizes now.

Holt has sucked all year. The injury can be used as an excuse, but no way do I ever bench Beni for Holt, except maybe vs LHPs, but then I'd still use Young or Nunez instead of Holt.

Once Pedey returns, Holt should hardly ever play.

@PeteAbe

Pablo Sandoval just finished a fairly lengthy agility workout in the OF. Same stuff he did in spring training.

2017 Starting All Star Pablo Sandoval

Did it involve standing on one foot while eating his breakfast?
Can I get some support for this Post from April 6th as Post of the year?

Per WEEI, Chavis will be transitioned to 1B.

Hmmm, I wonder if anyone on here ever said that he couldn't play 3B?
