After last night, it wouldn't be the worst thing. Porcello's looked better of late. Teheran is their ace, so we can't expect to have a field day on him. Atlanta's bullpen is shot, and I don't think they have the offense to hit a clutch home run like that.

Yeah, I was kinda poking some fun in reference to recent events. We could easily lose this game and take 2 out of 3, but if Porcello can keep us close.....

Its a home and home; two games in each park. Guess we could still go for two out of three

I hope it's not a pitching dual....Porcello is bound to give up a 3 run homer in the 6th or 7th after 5-6 scoreless innings.

He needs to take advantage against this s***** line up. If he can't settle down his FB/HR, I don't know against who.

So far, good. Hopefully he continuous like this. We'll see.

Well now I just feel embarrassed!!!!

I didn't realize the schedule was like that. Odd thing is, the second you pointed that out I felt like we played the Braves that way last year and I went back and looked and WE DID last June. We played two games at Fenway then went down to Georgia for two more.

So with the way Hembree is pitching, when Kelly and Smith return, where does Hembree fit in? I think he has earned a spot with the ML team. Who goes? Ross? Layne? I suspect Kelly will end up in the pen given the way Wright has been throwing.

Yeah, well, the Braves are bad enough to lose three games in a two game series.

Porcello is looking good for the second start in a row. It is much needed.

I'd go so far as to say that he and Wright are our two best starters at the moment.

We should be blowing the doors off this horrible Atlanta team, but we are playing our B lineup. Maybe Farrell could downgrade our attack by getting Young into the game.

If Vazquez could ever develop into even a decent hitter, he could be one of best catchers in league.

Right now he is at .174/.457. If he is still there on July 1 does he still play?

As a former Globe forum 'poster', I would often rant about making the 3rd out of an inning at 3rd base.

So here we go again. 4th inning, scoreless game, runners on 1st and 2nd, one out. Holt strikes out and Shaw is thrown out at 3B to end the inning.

I cannot bring myself to believe that Shaw was attempting to steal 3B on his own. Which leaves it on the manager. Or, perhaps, the manager had the hit and run on. Either way instead of runners on 1B & 2B with two outs following the strikeout, the Sox were out of the inning.

It's basic Baseball Strategy 101! I just can't stand it when the 3rd out in an inning is made at 3B.

Will someone in the dugout get a clue!

You need to cut Farrell a break. His mind is overtaxed playing in an NL team with his pitcher having to bat and the terrifying prospect of double switches. It is very heady stuff.

Welcome to the forum! I'm merging your post into the Gamethread forum. I'm not trying to stifle your enthusiasm in any way, but we have a lot less forum space than larger sites and we prefer not to clutter up the Sox discussion forum with separate threads for in-game actions or minor thoughts about those in-game actions. Again, this is not a criticism, and if you want to discuss the Sox's baserunning strategy as a whole, there are a couple of great existing threads (such as the 2016 Sox Season discussion thread) where our other members would welcome your input!
