Context. A quality start, and a 15-2 K/BB ratio.

The context is that he is not going to be a 3.5 ERA pitcher. His K/BB is meaningless if he can't settle down his HR/FB %.

My guess is that he will be closer to 3.5 this year than 4

He is going to pitch more games against the jays than the Braves. That is context too. I hope that he pitches to a 3.5 ERA, but realistically I am not holding my breath.

K/BB% is never meaningless.

If you want a low ERA it is when your HR/FB% is high, like in Porcello's case.

If you don't allow a lot of baserunners, you're not going to give up a lot of runs even if you give up some homeruns. And his HR/FB% is unsustainable. His K% and HR% should stabilize, but there will probably be more benefit than harm.

You just need 2 baserunners and 2 HR in different IP to drive your ERA north.

He has posted above 14% HR/FB% in 3 of his 7 years of duty. 2016? 21% thus far. Say he normalizes that number to his 12% career HR/FB%; it still awful.
