Three up three down is a clean inning. For all of our concern about him, he does have 6 saves with 5 games to go in April. If he gets 40, and I don't care how he gets them, we will be a competitive team, and that will be welcome after the last 2 years. I doubt that he will blow 2 saves per month from here on out.

Ok.... today was a clean inning. Fair enough. I posted the question when they were reviewing the call. To me it OBVIOUSLY hit Freemans foot as balls don't bounce to the right when spinning to the left and hitting the dirt. But.... ok.........

 

And for the love of Gob. All I'm saying is he hasn't had many clean innings, and I couldn't remember one.

 

I'm not worried about him at all yet. He'll most likely knock'em down at a rate that we will be happy with the rest of the year.

 

In fact I loved his confidence after last nights game. He pretty much said that s*** aint happening the rest of the year, which I think most people would agree with.

 

Maybe he had one clean inning in Toronto...... ok...... he's not looked sharp so far..... obviously.

I think he will walk some guys and give up the occasional hit, but as long as he comes into start an inning, I don't think he will give up too many runs. He will blow away 3 guys before putting on a couple of guys most nights.

Yep. Closers' main KPI is SV%. I don't care their velocity, repertory, ERA, K/W, FIP, WAR, FGH$&$, etc. as long their SV% is over 90%.

Regarding Porcello? LOL!

 

Well, I still think that Porcello is a pitcher around 4.5 ERA; a 4.0 ERA at best. Last night he faced arguably the weakest lineup in baseball.

 

Is he a 3.51 ERA pitcher? No way. i.e. IMO he is going to allow 3-4 runs per night through 5-7 IP all year which is an improvent of what he did last year, but a performance which still won't justify his contract.

 

We'll see, though. Hopefully I'm wrong.
