I agree that Shields is pitching below what we know he is capable of, and I would love to see him reunited with Price on the Sox, not only because they would be great, but because it would really rub salt in the wounds of Tampa Bay fans (all six of them). However, you said "right now on this team", and that's more what I was responding to. I wouldn't rather have Shields over those two right now because right now, they are pitching better than he is.

That being said, I do believe Shields will improve as the season goes on, and I would love to get him. I just think it can wait until the All-Star Break.

What he did 9 years ago has very little bearing on what he's doing right now. Usually you take the last three years and (because it's common sense) apply some age-related regression.

I meant throughout 9 y, not nine years ago. Also his last three years are very solid --- by era estimators and era, go figure.

I concur, I need to see them a couple of months more in order to make a call, and that includes James Shields.

I'm very supportive of LGBT rights, but I think it was a stretch for the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus to straight away bring the hate crime card into question over what appeared to be an honest mistake. Not sure how someone makes that mistake, but it does appear to have been an innocent one.

They met with the DJ and seem to have accepted that it was a mistake and not an intentionally discriminatory thing. They even asked that he be rehired. From some of their statements, I think they're a little embarrassed at their own quick reaction before knowing all of the details. Nice to see both sides seem to want to make this the non-issue it is.

In other order of ideas, if CIN wants to know how does it feel to win again, today is the perfect day. If they don't win today, they could easily lose another 10 games.

LAD is not hitting at all. They will go with Straily who is not an ace but at this point he is the best they have. Kazmir's been a joke this far. What is funny is that Straily's BABIP and LOB% are ridiculous and he is playing with the worst defense in baseball.

The 5 IP line is at +140. Go reds LOL!

Utley was a douche on his slide last year, but ha ha ha Mets, can't f***ing hit anybody. Couldn't hit Clemens, can't hit Utley. And LOL at the two bombs Utley served up. What a loser franchise.

The whole thing with this retribution stuff is ridiculous.

What the f*** were the Mets thinking? If you are going to throw at the guy at least have a relatively inconsequential pitcher do it. Not your stud starter.

Just dumb.

Kershaw is a freak --- in the good way, and Colon is unbelievable, he is pitching like he is in his prime LOL!

Cubs are about to lose against LAD and Arrieta's winning-streak could end tonight--- and he didn't allow any run.

He was left in for 10 runs. Wow! No 7 run rile in effect in the NL?

They were in an AL ballpark, so if they are forced to play a DH, they must be forced to incorporate the 7 run rule.

Mariners and Padres tied at 12 in 7th at Petco.. Baseball is a weird game.

After trailing 12-2 the Mariners scored five runs in the sixth inning and nine more with two outs in the seventh to take a 16-12 lead. The Padres narrowed the score to 16-13 in the bottom of the seventh.

Yeah, that game was absolutely absurd. I turned it on when it was 12-10 in the 7th.

I'm very impressed with what I've seen of this Dae Ho Lee guy, every time I watch them he comes up with a big hit.

Seattle is 8-3 in Wade Miley's 11 starts despite the lefthander's dismal 5.85 ERA.

Whatever.

That's luck at its finest.
