Clearly our rotation is our biggest weakness.

I've held the position that we have too much quantity and not enough quality when it come to SP'ers.

O'Sullivan, Owens, Elias, Johnson, Cuevas and others

Yeah, when ERod and Kelly return, we should be better off, but I'm thinking by the time the trade deadline comes around, we'll be looking for a solid SP'er.

@pawsox Joe Kelly gets the first out in the 7th and is lifted with a 1-0 #PawSox lead. Goes 6.1 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 SO - 92 pitches (58 strikes)

I have little confidence in Kelly.

However I can see him getting the nod before E-Rod because of the nature of E-Rod's injury and the limited spring training that he had.

I have said this before but since there are so many new members here now I will say it again.

I am not counting on big things from E-Rod this season. His injury is much more significant than many realize and will take months of rehab to strengthen the quads. All the while he is losing time by not throwing full-tilt in games.

I think that this could be a lost year for E-Rod. Seems at least as likely as seeing him be a force at the front of the rotation.

Looks like we'll have to sink or swim with Kelly for a while.

And with Buchholz too.

I guess we hope the offense continues to carry the team. LOL

I was going to post something about the original "72 hour" prognosis.

It sounds like Smith is still dealing with soreness too and has to be used cautiously.

It is just too bad. s*** luck hits us again. We better hope that Kelly's last AAA start is what we might be seeing out of him for an extended time. you never know.

Kelly should get the nod before Erod.

Kelly should not start another game for the Sox. I almost don't care who you get instead, but he's proven every time that he doesn't have starter potential.

I don't know why, but I have confidence in Kelly.

As much as i'd like to turn Kelly into a RP, given ERod's status, there's not much to dispute. We need quality starts, he doesn't have to blow the doors off. He needs to just not implode and we should be fine. That goes for everyne on the staff at this point though.

At least Smith wasn't shagging fly balls in the OF in ST for no reason whatsoever when he got hurt. : / I don't know who to blame on this, but the more it drags out the more I feel the need to assign blame. I just hope somebody in the organization felt the need to slap their forehead over this.

Kelly > Buchholz

Would rather Kelly be in the pen, but the rotation needs him for now.

Seriously, my reaction upon reading ERod getting hurt this past Spring went from a quick "no!" and a "why?" To a much more prolonged Darth Vader "Nooooooo!" followed by something very similar to the classic Nancy Kerrigan "Wwhhyyyyy???"
