At Bat is for the whole season.

So if you have at bat and a good data plan you probably don't need to pay for GDA.

However you purchase it, the password crosses over to work with any device (mobile phone via app, tablet with app, computer).

Lol. Don't worry I'm a bit confused to. I'll just purchase it from my phone. Looks easy enough. When I clicked at bat a big giant tab opened saying purchase game day audio for 14.99 or do 2.99 per Month. Probably just purchase it all at once wouldn't you think?

Do the math, $14.99 up front, or $17.94 if you pay monthly.

I was more less thinking test trial to try it out on my phone first.

If it's actually GDA, then it doesn't need to just be the iphone. Sounds like ORS is right, that the GDA itself would apply across platforms and the At Bat app is just a way to access GDA over the iPhone

That said get the annual subscription, I can't see it not working on your iPhone and if for some bizarre reason it fails, you can still access it over the computer.

For Francona, that's about 5 IP, for Valentine, that's about 6 IP.

I think Bobby V is going to let the SP go deeper into games and lift the pitch counts into the 120's. Save the bullpen a little and get some innings out of our SP.

First of all our pitchers are going to have to learn to go deeper in games unless we want our bullpen gassed out like the last few years. Besides, Valentine is not a fanatic for iron clad pitch counts as Francona was. Remember Bobby managed in Japan where pitchers go deep into games. I also think that BV is a flexible manager and will let the lay of the game determine which way to go. In my opinion this was a great weakness of Terry. He had his pre-game package determine what he was going to do and had trouble deviating from it. Now if we can get our "Big Three" pitching like a big three it will take a lot of pressure off the rest of the staff as well as the bullpen. Somehow I just feel that someone in the four or five spot is going to step up and be a very pleasant surprise for us this year.

Two would be better.

I absolutely love GDA. Had it 5 years running now and don't plan on doing without it any time soon. Baseball was made for radio and I'd pay $15 just for the Red Sox games' date=' which I can't always receive dependably because a nearby hill causes radio interference. The out of market stuff is just so much bonus.[/quote']

That's a great point Dojji---Baseball was made for radio and I don't believe it is a great sport for TV. That is why football has become popular the last few decades. It is a TV game. Baseball has it all over football as a spectator and radio game while football has the edge in TV. Being an ancient I have very fond memories of my young years living in Queens and listening to Red Barber and Connie Desmond announcing Brooklyn Dodger games on WMGM. If you had any imagination at all you could actually envision the game taking place and picture in your own mind the green grass, blue sky, and the advertisements on the RF walls.

Yeah, who would want to watch a baseball game on TV... wait, what?

Yes, it's good for radio but all things considered I'm watching it on TV if it is on. My favorite (I learned it last year) is putting on the WEEI audio feed with the NESN video feed (an option on MLB.tv package through my PS3). It's a really nice combination because the description is so much better on radio.

Today, we see Bard start against the Orioles. This will be a great moment for the team to see if he has what it takes to start.

Today will not show much. He'll pitch only 2 innings. We'll be able to tell more in a couple of weeks when they are trying to push him to 4-5 innings.

Are you looking at MLB gameday? It's not accurate.

Yeah, i don't know why, but the game's blacked out on MLB.TV and i'm at work.

Care to recap?

The radio guys were virtually asleep for the portion of the game I heard last night. Not that Don/Jerry would be any better.

If we could only clone Vin Scully...

How did Bard do? No chance I could have watched or listened to the game. Been working all day. Hopefully they have set highlights up on the Sox main page I can watch when I get home.

2 innings, 0 hits, 1 bb, 2 k, 0 r

Aceves: 2 1,2,3 innings

I hate my score mobile during preseason. It never shows stats or plays on preseason just the score and what inning it's in.

Silva is out of the running for the rotation according to Boston's site on MLB. I guess that's one less from the scrap heap we have to worry about.

Sounds pretty good EX1. I guess you like Castiglione better than the Orsillo-Remy duo OR, as you put it, you get a better description. I have the MLB.TV package but can't get the radio portion along with the TV feed but I like Orsillo and Remy. Maybe it's Red Sox bias but I like that combo. What I do not like is when the Sox are on the road and I get some yo yo announcers from the other team that do their best to bore me out of my shorts.

My guess is that you are considerably younger than I am and grew up with TV baseball. The first few years of my fandom we didn't have the tube and it was radio or nothing. You can develop a good imagination trying to picture what is taking place on the ballfield listening to it on the radio. Still that was a long long time ago and times have changed.

Even my grandpa used to listen to the radio with the TV while watching baseball, but I don't think you can say baseball is better than whatever sport through any medium. I think all sports generally sound better through radio just because its more descriptive.

I get the MLB package every year for tv but my problem is my gf doesn't like sports much. So the MLB at bat radio for my phone will be perfect when she is watching her shows hahaha.

Back in the day, it used to be a party game to have Johnny Most on the radio and the Celtics on the TV with the sound down. It was like he was watching a different game than you were.

There would be little to match up.
