Just saw your post on Iggy harnessing his speed.

IMO, I say put him at SS everyday, let him develop at the MLB level and save our pitchers some runs. Not like this offense is going to be in short supply this year, especially with Crawford likely bouncing back and Gonzo gaining power.

Anything to help the SP this year is the direction we need to go, I think.

Besides, Ozzie Smith OPS'd .593 in his first 4 seasons and posted a WAR of 9.1, so elite defense up the middle can be extremely valuable - valuable enough to turn a .593 OPS into a solid WAR. Iggy won't be Ozzie, but he can still be a 1.5-2.0 WAR player.

Scutaro had a WAR of 0.6 last season, if that puts into perspective how helpful Iggys defense can be.

Damn. I got all the way done with this and realize this should be in the other thread. Oh well, sorry yeszir.

37 pitches in 2 innings.

For Francona, that's about 5 IP, for Valentine, that's about 6 IP.

I think Bobby V is going to let the SP go deeper into games and lift the pitch counts into the 120's. Save the bullpen a little and get some innings out of our SP.

You might see a few pitch counts into the 120's but I don't think you'll see it with any consistency. Verlander is one of the few guys a manager would be comfortable doing that with. Sabathia had 3 pitch counts of 120 and over last year, but the first wasn't until August 30.

I do agree that Valentine will try to increase a bit from Tito's limits.

I love that I can now put baseball on in the background when doing other things

Yes. YESSS. Definitely. My favorite part of baseball coming back.

Are these games on the radio? Or only regular season? I have a Ref Sox app on my phone for Red Sox radio but can't seem to find the game on it.

I'm getting the audio through Game Day Audio. $20 a year for pretty much every audio broadcast all year and through the postseason. If you love radio baseball, it's a good cash outlay considering how many out of market games you get.

Not all spring games are broadcast.

Oh wow that's a good price. Is it right on the MLB?

Iglesias has been pulled, he was the final guy I wanted to see.

Next game being aired is (I believe) on Friday.

Until then, in case you guys hadn't heard, MLB 12 The Show comes out at midnight, or for us working folk, tomorrow at 5.

Yep. I purchased early and got a $5 discount by going to the Red Sox website and getting a Red Sox Nation basic package so I'm paying $15. On the main MLB website, it's $20.

It can take some finding BTW. They really would rather sell you the more expensive MLB.TV package that's $20 a month.

Since it's still Spring, look into the RSN membership, you might get the reduced price still.

Great thanks for the tip :) I will check as soon as I am home. Wonder if it would work for my iPhone as well haha.

Get the basic membership. $14.95. It'll include GDA at a reduced price along with some cheap made-in-china junk. The junk is worth putting up with for the audio discount.

I think there's a way to access this stuff on a smartphone, something called the MLB At Bat app, but since I don't have a smartphone, can't confirm or deny.

Thank you! I'll check now. I've heard of at at bat as well but haven't found anything on my phone.

You can use your MLB.com password on your mobile apps. I listened to many games on my android phone last season.

I absolutely love GDA. Had it 5 years running now and don't plan on doing without it any time soon. Baseball was made for radio and I'd pay $15 just for the Red Sox games, which I can't always receive dependably because a nearby hill causes radio interference. The out of market stuff is just so much bonus.

Not sure you have to get both at bat and GDA. Make sure getting At-Bat doesn't give you audio access as a perk before springing for both. They bundle audio into a number of packages -- they seem to realize that radio/audio broadcasts are their best ambassador and are spreading that technology in the hopes of upselling everyone to video. So don't overspend if you don't have to.

Yeah, Bobby's read some of our posts here about that. Maybe he's just using common sense.

I can't wait to have audio on my phone! Do you know how often I have to hear this from my girlfriend..... "Well we watched baseball last night so you can watch What not to wear marathon for me tonight!!!" I'll just grab some headphones and slip off to Red Sox heaven lol. I feel like such a noob. I generally never listen to Red Sox radio.

At Bat is for the whole season, and the password works on MLB.com.

Well, we've got a good crew on the radio. Joe Castiglione is an institution.
