Punto's defensive numbers are pretty insane though. Put this into perspective:

Adrian Beltre's career UZR/150 at 3B -- 15.4

Nick Punto's career UZR/150 at 3B -- 19.0 (over 2000+ innings)

Point taken. They're also paying Punto pretty decent money, so i can see where you're coming from.

Cook had a good outing today against the Nats -- 5 innings 2 hits 1 run. He's a May1st opt out. Who will get bounced from the rotation if he stays healthy and gets called up?

Since Aceves will be in for Beckett's first start, I would assume that Cook is at least the 7 man in depth. So if Cook doesn't opt out, we'll see more of him if Bard collapses.

We'll be seeing Cook at some point... maybe we will see too much of him.

We'll probably see plenty of Cook this season either way...

The latest news that i have seen was that BV stated that Beckett would absolutely start the second

game of the season. If something has changed please tell me.

Sounds about right to me. Either way I am not expecting a huge explosion on offense in the series against Detroit. Our Pitchers will have to play great, Detroit is a tough team to score alot of runs on especiallu when Verlander is starting. I cant frickin wait!!!!!

I believe we will be seeing Cook at some point this season as well and I also agree that we will likely be seeing more of him than we will want to. I am hoping he improves from where he is now before we see him up.

He must keep the ball down all the time. At least at this point, if he is up at all he is throwing batting practice at least to major leaguers.

Fellow Red Sox fans, we are finally done with this thread. Just a little over 29 hours until the first pitch is thrown for the Red Sox this season. I am excited and I made sure I asked off for tomorrow so I can watch the first game.
