Javy probably saved himself from being removed with that inning, even though he still had a four pitch walk, and missed his location badly on the strikeout pitches to Bautista and Wells.

Well, one of the things Pettitte always brought was stability. We didnt need ace performance from him since he's returned. We've needed a guy who can take the bump 30 times a yr and give us above average performance. Well, this yr has been the anti-Andy yr. He's been very, very good, but fragile. He'll be 39 next yr, and he is set to miss 8 weeks in his yr 38 season. How durable will he be next season? That's the thing. Nova is ready to make the jump. Brackman, Phelps, Mitchell, Noesi and Warren will be in AAA. Betances, Banuelos, Stoneburner, Garcia, and Bleich should be in AA. That is a deep 10, even if two are coming off surgery (Bleich and Garcia). At some point, you gotta give em a chance

I completely agree. But just like we know they'll likely cave into Jeter's demands, I could see a similar thing happening with Pettitte.

But Pettitte has flirted with retirement every season AND he has left before. So, it isnt too much for Yankee nation to see him ride off into the sunset again.

I actually wouldnt mind seeing him pull a Clemens, to be totally honest. Relax and workout at home for the first 3 months of the yr, and if the rotation falls apart, make a call to Houston

Right, I could definitely envision a scenario where he leaves on his own accord. And I could also see a scenario where he wants to come back, but the Yankees don't want him, although I view that one as way less likely.

As for the Clemens thing, that would be great, but I can't see Andy doing it.

Is it just me or has John McDonald been hitting a lot more home runs than usual lately?

Yup. Six home runs total on the year, with four of them coming in August and September.

If Joe believed in it yesterday, he should believe in it today. Logan should be up in case Wells reaches.

EDIT: And this is why I dislike Joe. Way too much inconsistency. He made the right move yesterday, he should do the same today.

EDIT 2: What a surprise. Joe continues to show us what a moron he is.

Exactly. Lefty up' date=' and you bring in Moseley?[/quote']

The worst part is, in the exact same situation yesterday, he made the right move. Now today, he doesn't. And now Logan is up.

I hope Joe goes to the Cubs after this year.

Joe likes to alternate these things, but I wonder if Kerry Wood is now the 8th inning guy.

EDIT: But I bet he is just going with the hot hand, which I'm a big fan of.

I think Joba, Wood and Robertson are going to split the duties to be honest with you. The past 2 days we have seen everyone since our starters have sucked, but in games where you need 1 inning before Mo, my guess is the hot hand.

BTW, Wood is making it very interesting for the offseason. Should we try to keep him?

And another homer on an 0-2 pitch. Also, I know they're encouraging him to throw it more, but Hughes' changeup isn't any good right now. He should work on it in game, but it would be a mistake to ever throw it in any kind of important spot or game.

It's time for the Yankees to lose' date=' A-Rod is back [/quote']

Haha, it's amazing how these things work sometimes.

And that was a really nice changeup from Hughes.

Pursuant to our conversation about Jeeter's worth, "a major league executive" was quoted by Cafardo today as having said that the market value of Jeeter is 2/16 (8 per.) It was also said that the Yankees will likely over pay to keep him.

Hughes results werent there today, but his FB had better movement, his change looked okay and his curve looked good. The Jays hit 2 bad pitches.
