the yankees lose. anyone notice how their offense seems to be feast or famine? in their last 11 games, they've been heald to 3 runs or less 5 times and they've scored 9 runs or more 5 times

At this point they really have one reliable starter. If Pettitte comes back, and is effective, they can make another run at a championship if they make the playoffs. But with the way this team is pitching, and with how tough their September schedule is, I'm not taking anything for granted. Just hoping they hold off Boston.

burnett must have had really electric stuff tonight. we all know when he struggles it's not becuase he's a bad pitcher but because his stuff is "too good" that night

Whenever you hear the "electric stuff" description about a pitcher, he is either unproven or he just can't get his s*** together a sucks. When I hear that I guy is available and he has electric stuff, I don't want him. Didn't Matt (Cement Head) Clement have electric stuff?

Bad AJ is back....from never leaving.

Exactly. This team has one reliable starter.

Here's what worries me. If the Yankees, Rays, and Red Sox were all tied, I'd guess that the Yankees would be the odd team out moving forward. The Yankees' starting pitching is significantly worse than the two other teams. I'm just hoping that the difference between the Yankees' and Red Sox's pitching isn't enough for the Sox to overcome the 4.5 game deficit.

I was rooting for the Rays tonight, and will continue to when the two teams play each other.

I'm sure it won't happen in the immediate future, but if Boston continues to make up ground, I'm wondering at what will the Yankees decide to start handing CC the ball every fourth day. Considering how much experience CC has pitching on short rest, and how bad the rest of the rotation is, they should be willing to do it at some point.

We need to get Pettitte back. With a second reliable pitcher, we can weather the storm. Right now, we have an ace in CC, a first yr starter in Hughes who has been hot and cold, a AAAA guy in Moseley who has given us chances to win but always has the chance to revert to suck, a rookie who looked good in start #1 but he is still a rookie, and Bad AJ again. Seriously, when Pettitte returns, we might need to skip AJ once to get his head out of his ass. As sucky as he has been, we need him to find his stride to win a WS
