I like Brett' date=' and I don't know what the numbers say, but he doesn't seem to benefit from being ahead in the count.[/quote']

He seems to always take until he has 2 strikes. Fine philosophy for his skillset, but not good hitting with RISP

You're going to pay when you give away two free base runners, but Javy has only given up one hard hit ball in four innings. He has pitched better than his line score would indicate.

and he has had a very inconsistent outside corner strike, which killed him in that inning.

The strike zone has been inconsistent tonight, but I can't really complain about last inning considering there wasn't a single pitch in the strike zone that wasn't called a strike.

He's such a goddamn enigma. Some innings he moves his fastball in and out, changes speeds, drops curves in the backdoor and looks like a 2008 version of Mussina. Then in other innings, he thinks he's a power pitcher, elevates a 89mph fastball or throws get me over curves and gets bombed. If he remembers that he's lost about 5mph on his fastball, then maybe he'll be useful

BTW, I am predicting weak tapper by Jeter

Good move by Washington, as he saw Harrison losing it, and he turns Tex around to his weaker side (this year), although he probably should have done it one pitch earlier.

He's horrendous. Slowly the most loyal Jeter supporters' date=' and there are many of them, are going to realize how much he's hurting the team.[/quote']

I think this is a mindset thing. Jeter may have lost some bat speed, but his mechanics and mindset are all f***ed up. He isnt striking out, but he isnt making hard contact. Maybe, just maybe, he's finally realized that he isnt invincible and is afraid to strike out.

It's great having A-Rod in the lineup, but Pena gobbles that up.

And this is not a good decision by Joe. Javy has been throwing the ball well tonight, and he's only at 88 pitches.

Normally it'd be nice to have the top of the order up, but it's a different story when the top of the order contains Jeter and Golson. Nothing they can do about Golson, that was the right decision. What's too bad is that they want Jeter there.

I don't blame Cano. Why not appeal there? The base umpire has a much better view than the home plate umpire.

With that being said, Cano looks lost. He's been their best player most of the year, and they're going to need him in the postseason if they're going to be successful.

They better score here 1 out with 1 on 3rd

It's Jeter. Time to realize he's not going to come through this year. A squeeze would have been a really good play there.
