I looked at taking Blackburn over Zobrist' date=' but he seemed to be in the Andy Sonnanstine mold, and those can be volatile, and as well kept a secret as Zobrist is, I wanted to make sure I got him..[/quote']

you about done patting yourself on the back over that pick?

I picked Suzuki for C to start until Buster Posey comes up. He's no offensive wonder' date=' but he's a great defensive catcher and can post an OPS in the .700s, which is reasonable for a catcher.[/quote']

As my old boss used to say to the copy machine when it jammed, "********** motherf***er!"

Suzuki was my next pick. I was all smug about it, thinking I would have the best backup catcher. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Gimme just a few more seconds. There we go.

Actually I was just saying that I had an eye on Blackburn and explaining why I didn't draft him.

You wouldn't have the best backup catcher anyway. Not unless I decide to go for a third catcher for maximum flexibility. I've got Snyder and Napoli as my catching tandem with Napoli DHing on non catching days.

Suzuki is a better catcher than Napoli.

Willingham has power and gets on base. Good guy to have coming off the bench. I thought about Blackburn being like Sonnanstine, but Blackburn's walks are up this year, and it really hasn't hurt him. Sonnanstine's walks are up, and he's been completely ineffective. He's also giving up the gopher ball at an alarming rate.

I guess I should have specified. Suzuki is a better defensive catcher than Napoli. I thought that was clear.

That's why he'll spend a lot of time DHing. But Napoli is by far the better overall catcher, and with Snyder (above average defensive C) as my starter at the position I'm very loaded behind the dish. Although I might load up with a third catcher to make sure I don't get put in situations where I have to give up the DH.

That said, Suzuki is a franchise-caliber defensive catcher and is a very worthy pick.

i know i could have gotten jeter much later, but i've been busy lately and not able to research for this pick, and today's my bday so ill be gone all day and into tomorrow so i figured id pick to keep things moving. He fills a position of need for me though, and fills out my lineup batting 8th. My plan originally was to pick tim beckham with my last pick then a closer and fill that gap between now and beckham with jeter, so now i have to find jeters replacement with one of my next few picks.

There are two guys in particular who I'm pretty shocked haven't been picked yet. Just sayin'.

I know you can't say there names I guess, but what positions? I have a couple guys in mind for my next pick anyways.

Infield and SP.

Not as hopeful as I first thought it might be LOL Although there is a SP I can think of that might make a nice fill for someone rotation.

Herrera is 5'7" 145 lb' date=' I'd be worried that a gust of wind knocks him over on the mound.[/quote']

He's little, but he's good. That gives me 2 nice lefty setup guys in Thornton and Herrera.

It kind of sucks that I had Schafer picked after Rowand was gone but I'm pleased with Pelfrey as my #5.

I think I have a pretty stacked lineup with a pretty underrated rotation. I'll take my team's chances for sure.

Geh. Not much to say here. I wanted a good lefty and Sherrill was the best of a VERY short list since Whiskey klepto'd the guy I REALLY wanted.

This is not a back patting exercise. I would just like to see what people think of my rotation. I have Webb and Beckett at the front, both of whom are ace-calibur pitchers. Then I have Vazquez and Nolasco as my 3 & 4. I like Vazquez for a number of reasons: he's always healthy, has a phenomenal K rate and doesn't walk too many, which leads to consistent WHIPs in the 1.2s. I think he's a really good middle of the rotation starter. Nolasco has been disappointing this year, but he's still only 26 years old and I think he can be a front of the rotation starter if his shoulder problems don't come back. Brett Anderson is my temporary and future 5 starter, but I'll be picking someone else pretty soon for this year.
