Not to mention the receiving corps. Cutler is inconsistent at times, but he really is much better than people give him credit for. He just has no one around him. I was a hater on Cutler for awhile when the Bears first got him, but he's made me a believer. With Cutler and Forte, the Bears were virtually a lock for the postseason and actually could have contended. When Cutler went down (and to a lesser extent Forte), the Bears' offense was nonexistent.

Good trade for both teams. After Sabathia, the Yankees kind of had a pathetic rotation. Nova is okay, but I don't see him as anything other than a 4 or 5. He's a 3 in a weak rotation. Pineda will have some growing pains in the AL East in a much worse pitching park than Safeco, but he's got nasty stuff and decent command. He'll develop into a pretty solid 2 sooner rather than later and has the potential to even be an ace down the road. Kuroda is also quite solid. His numbers will take a dip as well, but he'll keep the Yankees in games. Colon and Garcia really had no business having the seasons they had last year. The Yankees were extremely fortunate they worked out as well as they did. With Pineda and Kuroda, not much luck will be involved with their success. Meanwhile, the Mariners desperately need offense. And while it's unclear whether or not Montero can stick at catcher, he should be provide a nice boost to an anemic lineup.

My bullpen was lights out. Without even looking at everyone else's roster, I would venture to say I easily had the best pen in the league. Would have been better if he hadn't given up so many gopher balls. Jhoulys Chacin had a bad 2nd half. My everyday players were a mixed bag. Mark Teixeira (4.2 WAR), David Ortiz (4.2 WAR), Justin Upton (6.4 WAR), and Carlos Gonzalez (4.1 WAR) is a beastly middle of the order. David Wright was hurt and had a down year. Gordon Beckham sucked but was solid at 2B. Rafael Furcal sucked and was hurt. Chris Iannetta (3.3 WAR) and Ryan Hanigan were a decent combo of catchers. Denard Span sucked and was hurt. Nick Markakis had a decent year, but it was nothing special. Ryan Raburn was mediocre, had a good 2nd half. I got excellent value in Danny Espinosa (3.5 WAR) with my last pick.

Saw Larry Bird's Top 50 moments on NBA Network. Man, what a competitor. I love the swagger - and how he backed it up. Definitely would have been my favorite player of the 80s had I grown up in that decade. He was the white MJ, no doubt about it.

I still can't believe that call. Jerry Meals knew he was out. You can tell by the way he hesitated. He was probably thinking in that split second, "Can I get away with calling him safe?" A lot of people lose their jobs for accidental incompetence. When it's deliberate, the ax needs to come down. I'm going to go ahead and say that was the worst call in the history of baseball. Because it was not even close and because the ump damn well knew it. Jim Joyce made an honest mistake on a play that was much closer than this. Meals just wanted to go home. Little f***ing league.

Jeter has always been a class act. And he's played the game the right way. I'm happy for him. The only Yankee to ever reach 3,000 hits is a pretty big deal when you consider the history of the franchise.

If the Bulls don't get Howard - and they probably won't - I would love it if they got Stephen Curry to play alongside Rose. Probably won't happen, either, but a man can dream. Unless the Bulls and/or Celtics make some big moves, the Heat will still have a clear path to the championship next season and the seasons that follow.

From what I can tell, it looks like he was asking for too much money (on really bad advice from his coach) and teams passed on him because they thought he would have been difficult to sign. Had he just been more flexible, he would have been drafted in the 8th round. The Pirates were interested in him in the 6th if he had been willing to convert to catcher. Can't blame him for not liking that offer. It's easily the most demanding position, and he's never caught in his life. The Marlins would've taken him in the 17th had he not hesitated.

The Cubs taking Trevor Gretzky in the 7th round is such a joke and clearly a publicity stunt. The kid tore his labrum playing football. Baseball America called him "a poor runner," questioned his defense, and said "he has plenty of holes in his swing." Jim Hendry proves once again that he is the worst GM in baseball, and it's not even close.
