Well I've officially drafted the first bench playerof the AF league draft. But I think I have reason. Zobrist plays everywhere, switch hits, and has shown ridiculous power, and even has a bit of base stealing ability. Any manager who can't figure out how to get Zobrist into a given game is a frickin' idiot. And because my DH is a catcher, he provides the ability to rest literally EVERY member of my lineup. He ALSO allows me to platoon at DH against tough righthanders that Napoli would struggle against while having a bat that would carry him at 3B or 1B if I need to send down my underdeveloped starters at those positions.

In short, he's the perfect complement to MY team and a dang solid complement to any team at all.

f***, nice pick, Dojji. Versatility, thy name is Ben Zobrist. Makes my upcoming pick for my first bench player a lot easier to justify.

Thank yew, thank yew. Zobrist might wind up as my starting 3B depending on what happens with Alex Gordon.

Top secret!

You just had to go ahead and mention it, didn't you?

You damn well better edit it out.

I was thinking about take Soriano, thought he'd drop to the next round. Didn't want to pick another reliever when I still needed a 3rd OF and 5th SP.

Real nice pick though, had my eye on him.

I was torn between Gonzales and Soriano.

But since good lefty relief is so hard to find these days i chose Gonzales.

This is an excellent pick by the man who is younger than Gom.

Thornton is one of the better lefty RP in the game, and I needed a lefty before they were all gone.

Yeah, I know he's 32 right now, but I think he will continue to be solid for several more years and give me a comfortable option out of the pen.

I love Soriano' date=' but his injury history scared me off[/quote']

Same. If you get 3 1/2 healthy years out of 5 from him, I'd consider that a success.

As you can see I haven't drafted any relievers yet. Am I the only one that see's it as problematic? I mean we are trying to guess which relievers will be good for the next 5 years, when most of us or anyone else for that matter can't predict what the will do next season.

So are trades allowed in this league after the draft is done?.

I think there should be a one week period in the off season where you should be allowed to make 1 to 2 trades. Of course I say this knowing full well I have the best minor league pitchers available:D

f*** you, WhiskeyBreath!

f*** you up the ass with a bedpost!

Lol,f***ing excellent pick!

I was salivating at the thought of Masterson's late inning/starting awesomeness!

I was going to go with another guy for my 5th starter (I'll name him once someone else picks him), but his health is a concern. His last start was awful, and for whatever reason he hasn't been the same the last 2 seasons.

I'm aware Blackburn will probably be panned by some of you because of his low K/9, but I like him. Obviously pitches to contact. Somehow, though, he gets the job done. He's 27, has good mechanics, and makes pitches when he has to. I think he'll be able to consistently give me around 200 innings a year, an ERA of 4.00 or under 4.00, and a WHIP around 1.3. And if that's the case, what more could you want from a 5th starter?

I just about spit out my coffee at the Posada pick...

My catcher sucks right now, but will be a good pick overall. Posada will offer some now production while Soto figures it out. When he does, Posada will serve as my DH. Swisher is playing well in pinstripes, he's young and he'll get the benefit of the homerdome for the next few yrs. At such a premium position, how did Posada fall that far down the board?

I picked Suzuki for C to start until Buster Posey comes up. He's no offensive wonder, but he's a great defensive catcher and can post an OPS in the .700s, which is reasonable for a catcher.

I looked at taking Blackburn over Zobrist, but he seemed to be in the Andy Sonnanstine mold, and those can be volatile, and as well kept a secret as Zobrist is, I wanted to make sure I got him..
