I am starting to get a kick out the fact that theYankees have been helping us out by beating the Rays. I am sure that has to be annoying some Yankee fans.

It doesn't bother me. I just want to win games, I don't care who benefits.

f*** ny

i hope they lose

isnt it ironic that pavano has suddenly emerged as a keeper for this staff?

does cashman offer him a deal in the offseason or do the sox step in and give this guy 15M for 3 years and watch him win 15*18 next year?

He's been solid, but it's been three starts. So, no. Also, why aren't you rooting for the Yanks against the Rays? I'd say we still have a shot at the AL East.

i think the rays will implode and we have 6? with them,we control our own destiny so to speak.

the wild card lead is up to 4 or 5 is it?

the rays have a brutal september in front of them and their arms are untested under this kind of extreme pressure, i do think we'll catch them.

their best player,longoria is out

their other stud crawford is out

rocco is back but he hasnt seen much baseball in 3 years...on the other hand.....

ny isnt dead until theyre dead,

i dont want them in a position where it matters to them under any conditions.

in your deepest darkest hours it isnt tampa that frightens you and it isnt tampa that ruined fall for many of us...

ny is still in this s*** fight and although it looks grim for them their bats are capable of smoking anyone anytime....

i am confident but id prefer them dead in the water,no life,no hope, nothing to play for.

nothing

san diego and the mets had big leads in mid september last year and gagged them away.

i dont need to remind anyone what happened to us in 1978 either.

this goes against conventional thought....

i am aware of this but i dont fear the rays,i think the angels peaked too soon and the central teams arent a worry either....i will think normal thoughts when ny is out of it officially, till then i want them to lose each game.

Travel day for the Yankees as they go from Tampa to Seattle without an off day.

7:05 first pitch time. Does that make any sense at all? This should be a 1 o'clock start.

Start time is up to the home team, as it impacts their revenues. When you can only get 25K to show up to a meaningful game against a division contender in Sept, you need all the help, ie first pitch is after Joe-fan gets home from work, you can get. Let's not pretend like this only happens to the Yankees. Both NY and BOS are big road draws. They both put up with this whenever a west coast road trip comes on the heels of a road series back east.

It doesn't much matter to the yankees as they are out of contention.

How does it not matter? They still have a job to do, they still have to go out and play the rest of the season. And that's not easy to do when you're exhausted. It would make sense to make better scheduling decisions to accommodate the travel. We've seen a lot of travel/scheduling conflicts this season throughout the league. This should be seriously addressed. It's one thing if they're going to Baltimore or Minnesota or something, but Seattle.......damn.

From that aspect, it doesn't much matter as both the Yankees and Seattle are out of contention.

On multiple occasions last season, the Sox had the late game on ESPN followed by a west coast trip.

I agree that it needs to be addressed but it is a league-wide problem and not centered around the Yankees.

Well, while I'd like to inch a little closer to TB, it's not like another nail in the Yankee coffin is a bad thing.

Specially if they blow-out their bull-pen tonight and travel to Seattle to play tomorrow.

Well it's better than I expected from the Yanks. Being 3.5 Back with a little less than a month to go is do-able.
The only question is whether it would be better to play the Angels in a 5 game or 7 game series. One way or another, the Red Sox will have to go through the Angels.

The 5 game series is automatically on the road, while the 7 game could be at home, depending on how this shakes out.

The shorter series might be advantageous as it might not expose the thinner Red Sox bullpen.

sox match up better in the 5 game set with becks going twice.

i think the angels match up better in a 7 game set because their starters are slightly better than ours but they dont have THE 1 that we got.

lots of 2s but no one like becks(assuming becks is healthy)

I don't know, John Lackey is pretty good. He's having a better year than Beckett this year. I know someone will mention the playoff performances, and while Beckett has been unbelievable in his two playoffs, Lackey hasn't been a slouch (2-2, 3.63 ERA).

Beckett's two playoffs also happen to have occurred in years he was throwing very well. He's struggled a bit this year. His "big game" billing will either take a hit or be cast in stone depending on how he fares this year.
