Its very difficult for sox fans to consider Jeter good at anything. He'll just be below average all the way to the HOF

This is untrue and another Yankee fan strawman special. He's rightfully going to the HOF and will get in on the first ballot on the merit of his bat and postseason play. Unfortunately, he'll get credit as a GG defender as well.

Well, it was Carl or Hughes who could come up and save the season. Unphortunately, Phil got lit up like a candle his last two times out in AAA.

This is a lost season for Hughes. A lot of times, guys get hurt and are able to throw on the side. The majority of their return is the rehab. Hughes wasnt allowed to throw at all for 2.5 months. Figure most players take 6 weeks of throwing full speed to get back into playing shape and some guys take a month into the season to get rolling. Hughes was diagnosed in the first week of May. He didnt start even playing catch until mid-July. He didnt pitch off a mound until the end of July. The idea that a young kid still maturing and learning the game could be our "savior" coming back from a debilitating injury (from a rehab perspective) was dumb from the start. If I were running things, I'd make sure Hughes keeps throwing in AAA and then move him to whichever league is in the playoffs so he can log more innings. I wouldnt consider him for a spot this yr. And to be honest with you, due to the fact that he's now lost about 1.5 of the past 2 seasons, he should start in AAA and only come up if he is absolutely dominating.

Total BS call by the umps on the strike out by Melvin Mora to end the second inning. With Markakis running, Mora swung at a pitch in the dirt. The Yankees run off the field without making the putout. Mora spun around after the swing flipped his bat away and took about 2 to 3 steps onto the grass towards the dugout before he was alerted to run to first. He continued to second and and Markakis to third as the Yankees left the field. Girardi argued. The umps called Mora for leaving the field. Unbelievable! I have seen guys almost get back to the dugout and run to first and not get called out. Typical BS call that the Yankees get.

I hope we don't end up saying that about his career.

I still have a lot of faith in this kid. He's 22, has a good arm and a good arsenal. But as we are seeing with Kennedy and Buchholz and even Lester prior to this season, he struggles with FB location. Joba doesnt have to worry about it cause he throws so damn hard. But the guys who sit low 90s need to put the ball on a dime. They are all capable, it is just about being capable and consistent and that is what these three lack, consistency.

I wouldn't count on Bucholz or Hughes next season.

Hence why i think Hughes needs to start out next yr in AAA. He never should have skipped it to begin with.

Kennedy doesn't have a fastball.

Think about what you're saying about Hughes. He's 22. If you start him in AAA next year, that means his first full season, he'll be 24. No longer will he be the phenom. They won't throw him out for 180 IP, so it won't be until 26 when he's a solid starter. This is assuming no injuries. Tired arm, flu, rib, eyesight issues....this guy has the makings of American Idle Part Deux.

Yankees pitchers vs. Orioles pitchers tonight, Pitch f/x normalized chart:

Yankees bonus strikes tonight: 7

Orioles bonus strikes tonight: 2

Net: Yankees +5

Yankees cheated strikes tonight: 0

Orioles cheated strikes tonight: 3

Net: Yankees +3

Total: Yankees +8

In a two-run game, the calls thus far are possibly the difference in the game.

So now the umpires are cheating for the Yankees? Are you alluding this again? Just curious.

[P.S. I haven't watched the game to see if what he's saying is true].

Callling Mora out for leaving the field on the 3rd strike in the dirt was completely ridiculous.

It looks as if the net dropped to +7 Yankees by game end.

Statistically significant at the 95% level? Nah. Disturbing if it's part of a pattern, such as calling out a runner who should be safe? Yeah.

Every time the yankees win you do this. Ridiculous.

I find it interesting how you have said they are cheating and that they are getting the calls. And the method you cite for the cheating is just hilarious. For a smart guy, you sound like you have a lot of sour grapes. And for what? You have 2 rings since 2001, we dont

It's ridiculous to point out that the pattern is aggravating but not significant?

Furthermore, you say that I do this "every time the Yankees win." Find where I posted this--or anything like this--on any of their last five wins.

You can't--I didn't. I only raise these points in a minority of games.

What is a better way of determining a potential pattern of wrong calls than checking right and wrong calls?

For a smart guy, you sound like you have a lot of sour grapes. And for what? You have 2 rings since 2001, we dont

Odd that you'd bring this up...yes, we've won twice since 2004...so, why are you raising a "sour grapes" issue?

Callling Mora out for leaving the field on the 3rd strike in the dirt was completely ridiculous.

However the umpire pumped his fist after the strikeout to signal that the batter was out. If he hadn't done that Pudge simply would have thrown the ball to first and Mora would have been out.

It was the right call for the wrong reason. The umpire made the wrong call (when he signaled initially that Pudge caught it cleanly), but if he had made the correct call the batter would have been thrown out anyway. The umpires found a way out of it by calling Mora out of the baseline. Again, right call, but for the wrong reason.

JHB, because you only seem to do this stuff when it benefits your team. You are the least objective person to ever come here. People are starting to see this now, what I've known for a while.

You know I believe you haven't posted them in other games? Because it probably went against the Yankees or was insignificant. Where are the numbers from Red Sox games? How come the bias in only Yankee games when they win? You seem to have a tendency to selectively choose which statistics to point out, and only to make your point, and ignoring the statistics that would discredit your results. In the other thead, I listed Ryan Church for the very reason of not wanting to "cherry pick". Your credibility here is close to zero at this point. Try to fix that, for your own sake.

See, if you did it for EVERY game, then you'd have a point. But if you look at the numbers, and only post them in games the Yankees win, and only when you view them as significant....no one buys what you say.

I want everyone to know that I kept this post very clean, with no hidden agendas or meanings. THIS WAS VERY FREAKING HARD FOR ME TO DO!!!!!

That's what we do, we're the Evil Empire. We even have the Evil Umpires on payroll, as well as MLB officials within the commissioners office, opposing team's coaching staffs, opposing players, opposing owners, opposing team's groundskeepers and hot dog vendors, PA announcers, broadcasters, the Baseball Tonight crew, and anyone else you can think of. They're all getting a cut under the table, just ask JHB.

Why don't you do the research on all those other games?

Barring that, why don't you stop suggesting that I'm only doing this stuff when it benefits my team?

See, you're making a huge assumption and posting it as fact as an insult, even while you say, "I kept this post very clean, with no hidden agendas or meanings. THIS WAS VERY FREAKING HARD FOR ME TO DO!!!!" It's not clean, Gom. It's insulting.

Do your research or shut your f***ing mouth. :D
