  1. Just a question. I think M&M are potentially Don & Jerry 2.0.
  2. test1 test 2
  3. They are doomed without a real closer. Give the job to Houk and give Whitlock the starter job. Or the other way around. I’d give it to Houk first, let him fail. Then give it to Whitlock. Get a closer at the trade deadline. Move Whitlock back to the rotation to join Sale coming back… then Houk can be the 8th inning guy.
  4. Way to elaborate - you probably like Skin Trade. I guess Hungry Like The Wolf would work, and I think New Moon on Monday would be cool too.
  5. Ok, let's stop any foolishness and think his walk-up song could be anything other than a Duran Duran song. I propose this The first 10 seconds are badass - and cranked at Fenway?! I suppose there could be others.
  6. Welcome!
  7. Dave Roberts - nice player. Terrible manager. I think the sox are looking to get Cora back for next year, but it wouldn't surprise me (but it would annoy me) if Varitek wound up as manager there.
  8. I tried getting tix for one of the games here in atlanta this week. Unreal. Cheapest ones still available were $101 per seat. And they weren't great seats. And Sun Trust Field ain't no Fenway!
  9. He looks like a Ben too. lol.
  10. darn it. There's already a thread. lol. Ben Intendy was too easy.
  11. And mexico will build that wall too
  12. All *******s go to heaven?
  13. Oh sweet jesus. Really?
  14. I wouldn't be surprised. And I wouldn't be surprised if it were the other way. The point is being the Sox do tend to leave players on the field because of the money they gave them. Not because of performance. And if you wanna do math on it, Panda is a puppy. Shaw had really awesome raw power. As for D. To me? it's a wash.
  15. Agree. I hate the whole idea of "you gotta play 'em cuz of what we pay 'em" mentality. I don't mind Pablo that much, but the only reason he gets any time is because of his contract. Plus I wanted to see where the Travis Shaw thing went. Oh well.
  16. and why is Kevin Millar on the list? lol
  17. I'd say if you narrow that list down a lot, it probably comes down to Ted Williams or Pedro. Best hitter, best pitcher the Sox have ever had. You probably have to do it that way: Best position player and best pitcher.
  18. I have to say, I love this year's Sox. Yeah, up and down so far, but it's early still. The loss of Oritz still looms, but overall I like the pitching upgrades (and we still have Price in the back pocket at some point). Seriously, it cannot be said enough that getting rid of Clay was a major upgrade. Kimbrel is what he is - a thrower, not a pitcher. But ehh, I can live with that. I think this will be a good year. Been a while since I've been here. Is Yeszir still alive? Slasher9 has the best user pic!
  19. Salty sucks as a catcher. I hope the Sox go after McCann in the offseason. On the bright side, the Sox would have had to have lost 2 games to win this thing at Fenway...
  20. It boggles my mind that against a team that struggles against left handed pitching, the Sox are sitting Doubront and pitching Peavey and a hurting Buchholz. Who's going to start if it goes to a game 7? Dempster?
  21. I'm so in playoff mode.. Got the good luck Pats hoodie, daily good luck Sox playlist which goes back to 2004 (Evil by Interpol is great), and braves/sox bets all around the office. This is sweeeeet.
  22. I love this trade. Even if Peavy turns out to be John Lackey 2.0, it's worth every cent of Iglesias.
  23. Date: Saturday, June 29th, 2013 First Pitch: 4:05 pm ET TV: RSN/NESN Starting Pitchers: http://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/30008.png&w=350&h=254http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/h/chinigor/TALKSOX/VS.GIFhttp://a.espncdn.com/combiner/i?img=/i/headshots/mlb/players/full/30066.png&w=350&h=254 http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/tor.gif #32 Esmil Rogers (3-3, 3.46) http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/bos.gif #22 Felix Doubront (4-3, 4.33) Toronto (39-40) at Boston (49-33), 4:05 pm EDT The strong starting pitching that was the catalyst for the Toronto Blue Jays' 11-game winning streak earlier this month has failed them at Fenway Park. Esmil Rogers will look to reverse that recent trend as he leads the Blue Jays into the third contest of a four-game weekend series against the host Boston Red Sox on Saturday. Boston has registered back-to-back wins against Toronto, chasing the Blue Jays' starters early in both games. With Toronto starters recording just 15 combined outs in the first two games of the series, Rogers is being counted upon to provide some much-needed quality innings. He'll be opposed by left-hander Felix Doubront, who hasn't won in nearly a month but has been one of Boston's most consistent starters since the beginning of May. The Red Sox have won seven of the 11 meetings between the teams in 2013. The 27-year-old Doubront had allowed just three homers over his first 48 2/3 innings this season. Rogers hasn't had much success against the Red Sox in his career, surrendering six runs and four walks over four innings. While Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester and John Lackey have earned most of the laurels for Boston's strong pitching, Doubront belongs in the conversation. The 25-year-old Venezuelan has allowed three earned runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts, though he is just 1-2 over that span. Doubront is 2-2 with a 5.40 ERA in 31 2/3 innings against Toronto, and has allowed more home runs to the Blue Jays (eight) than to any other team. GO SOX! (old school game thread mojo!) :damon:
  24. It was the right move. Papi should retire as a Red Sox player. Then retire his number and put an official end to the Epstien/Francona years. Papi should live on in Red Sox lore forever. Same with Theo and Tito.
