Bottom line, they scored 2 runs in 2 games.  At least in the modern era, I’m only aware of one team that has won consecutive postseason games scoring 2 runs.  The Orioles pulled it off in games 3 and 4 of the 1966 World Series, winning a pair of 1-0 games to complete a sweep of the Dodgers.

Forget getting a hit with RISP, the Sox never got a hit with a man on base the entire series.  Think about that.  The only guys who touched 3rd base were Contreras and Sogard on the homers.  I think Eaton and Story were the only other guys to touch 2nd.  It wouldn’t have mattered how Tracy managed the pen,

In the end the much better team won. Have a good fall and winter Illinois. See ya next spring.

Those people on the airwaves know even less ball than the people who thought bringing in injured players to win a postseason series was going to work.

And the posters on here rank?🤔

We're all allowed to be as optimistic or pessimistic as we please.  It has no impact on the team's performance either way.  🙂

I was wondering last night if any Sox players read this forum.

The pitching was excellent all year compared to the other teams. Last I checked the Flops team ERA was 2nd in the AL and the pen was best in baseball. Those figures could be a bit different as I haven’t checked for a while. You can’t judge pitching in a vacuum.

The glaring weakness was always hitting. Everyone knew about it over the winter. It wasn’t fixed.

I'm not going to say the weakness wasn't hitting, but that weakness has been league wide. The pitching will always have the advantage when the mentality for the offense (again league wide) has become trying to hit everything out of the park. When there are only a handful of players (5 to 7) hitting over 300 (and I think barely), something is wrong with the game. More often than not, hitters help the pitchers out, getting themselves out by swinging at bad pitches. How the hell is a 206 hitter, who shouldn't even be playing at the major league level hitting lead-off?

What happened to the guys who could work the count, and get something they could put the bat on, and at the very least make a productive out? I've never seen so many strikeouts. So yes, hitters who try and hit everything out of the ballpark are helping pitchers out.

The FLOPS were 23rd in MLB in runs scored during the regular season. Good pitching can't hide that defect. Thing is, everyone knew over the winter that this team was offensively challenged. It was a common topic of discussion here-who good targets should be. Instead of addressing the problem completely BresLOW fixed the pitching while ignoring the hitting. Yes, he got Contreras who had an unexpected career year, but thats pretty much it. Durbin had a period of being competent. Who else of significance did he sign to fix the offense? IKF? Gasper? Really? BresLOW should have been fired but he wasn't because he kept such a close eye on Henry's wallet. Henry loved that.

What is all this about something on Sonny's neck last night?

It was the albatross of the FLOPS hitting he bore all season.
