It's just one game, but it was a thoroughly demoralizing one for sure.  And I have very little confidence in tonight's game, especially in our ability to get on the damn scoreboard.  We have scored 71 runs in our last 25.

Gray may have to pitch the game of his life.

Bogaerts posts up unlike Story who has been a complete waste of money.  The Sox have done more than their share of wasting money on bad contracts and the guys they have wasted it on don’t even take the field.

and even if he does we likely still won't resign him

Ugly game one.  Terrible managing by Tracy and staff.  Boone is experienced and didn't let the innings/pitch count or batter that Schlittler was facing rattle what he was seeing (as the percentages/metric work well over 162, not just 1 game).  Tolle should have been able to stay in the game.  He was pitching well.  Miller hasn't been good the last month.  Just because he throws a sinker and Rice may not like that pitch, Rice knew what to expect.

Both Contreras and Rafaela looked lost.

Even if Tolle pitches two more innings, they still lose. Tracy has no impact on fixing the lineup. He's stuck with it. The only change is that Jahmai Jones will DH instead of Monasterio.

Leaving Tolle in the game would have made the final score ?-0. I know enough about baseball to realize that a team can't win scoring zero runs.

good thing we didn't sign Alonso. god forbid Henry spend the money to get a bat that can do some damage. why do that when you can hope and pray a bunch of AAA scrubs come through.

Yup. This crash at the end of the season was totally predictable. Henry is a cheap SOB and we will never win another ring with him as owner. The silver lining is that we will only watch these bums for one more game this year.

At the time bringing Miller into a 1-0 game was not a sound move, or the best option at that time. Especially the way Miller had been pitching at the end of the season.

Swap him out with anybody else in the pen and it doesn't change the outcome. 😾

.219 MLB worst average in last month...this is a god awful offense with 2 injured guys Anthony, Contreras, no spark with no Gasper at short porch, a truly struggling All-Star catcher, Raffy who hasn't hit for a while, Abreu who was hot, Duran who somehow stayed in the lineup for a 20 HR, 69 RBI despite the worst OPS numbers imaginable. Monasterio lost his mojo moment Story/Anthony came back. Durbinator is nothing like he was during 32-5...just a bad team overall. Not the pitching, just can't score, hit or much of anything...Tolle could have thrown 8 inn and lost 1-0.

Not the way it played out, but if it would have stayed a 1-0 game different moves most likely would’ve been made, and it might have played out different. Was Miller the right, or best option at that point in time? Rookie-inexperienced move by Tracy to me.

Crochet?

all i know is that we gave up a young player we picked #4 overall and was actually ranked #1 for a RP with only 1 yr left of cost control.

If they held onto him even longer, his value would have been even lower.

Again, way too much emphasis on worrying about pitching...it doesn't matter. Sox are and were a bad playoff team...in a bad league in a bad matchup in a house of horrors on the road

Jesus, hell no

Crochet hasn't pitched in months. No chance is he more reliable than Miller. No chance. If he was, we would have seen him in the regular season.

The only thing saving the Sox in this series is if they flip the switch for the 8,000th time this year. It's like the Cubs doubleheader. My brother insisted it would be a sweep for Cubs, I said nope Sox will sweep because they are not supposed to...that's been the Sox...so that's all you can hope for that suddenly 4 guys step up hit a few bombs and tie the series...I don't see it happening, but it's been this team's M.O.

Honestly I'd rather see Crochet throw to any batter because he's a competitor. As for Miller, he resembles the Sox bullpen by committee of years gone by...the guy who you cringe when he comes into the game because you know it's going to backfire

Why even on the roster?

The theory I've heard is that it is an extra guy for the Yankees to gameplan for. 🤪

Miller is a competitor. He just has had a rough stretch lately. He got touched by the Yankees's best hitter. Crochet and the rest of the Sox's bullpen may have been too.

In the post game presser Abreu answered a question why the Sox offense was shut down. He answered that the Schlittler was pitching to our weak spots.

The Sox batters' weak spot is fast balls over the plate.

"You see, he threw a 4 seamer and we couldn't hit it. He threw a splitter and we couldn't that either. The curveball was right out."
