I just checked July + August, and it certainly does seem possible.  We had a Py W/L of .710 over those two months, against an actual record of .745.  So even if we were playing over our heads, we were still playing really well.

It's such a funny game.  We got hot, and I thought we had a chance to catch both, maybe.  Then we lost 5 in a row and got down 10 games behind the Rays and 6 behind the Yankees, and I was figuring 'okay, things went sideways, but we're still a solid bet to be in the playoffs'.  Which still would've been fine, but now we are back in it.

But must focus on nothing but tomorrow night's game.
