Monasterio is trying his hardest to win the FT SS job for good.

He's moved into 2nd, behind Contreras, in team OPS.  If/when IKF returns, that's my SS platoon, and everyone can fight for 2B.

20 games over .500 in just over a calendar month

#7 record in MLB, and #3 in the AL.  Trying to explain baseball to anyone is a fool's errand.

Just to add to your wrongness, even if the Sox did lose this game, they wouldn't have lost the series.

Fred relishes being wrong as much as anyone I have ever known.

You don't think Jahmai will keep up his 1400+ OPS with the Sox?

I'll be very disappointed if he's still on the team after the TDL.

I'd bet on him still being here.  No one will want him and he has too much talent to DFA.

Even though the Red Sox took 3-4 from the A’s it didn’t really seem like it. The Sox had trouble hitting their starters. The Dodgers will be a better matchup this weekend, and it should be interesting to see how they stack up.

I vaguely remember telling someone in here, who I shall not name, that our one-run losses early in the year, were not indicative of our true level of talent.   Something, something, something, Py W/L, yada yada yada.

We are 5-1 in one-run games during our hot streak, and we were 6-12 in one-run games before then.

No, but if they didn't trade for Adell or Springer to replace him, I wouldn't throw my laptop in pool.

Fred is a die-hard troll.  The first lesson in trolling is to show up when the team is losing.

"Die-hard troll" - nicely put.

He has 2 options left.  They could send him to Worcester; not sure I'd want him around the kids though.

I thought about that, but wasn't sure what his status was being in the league 6 years.  But bringing in a legit RH LF and demoting him is certainly worth considering.

Monasterio is a pretty weak defensive shortstop.  But he might actually fit in quite nicely at 2b. Especially with Mead out…

I agree. I'd have him platoon with Seigler. Put Cheng at SS. Romy to AAA.

Tough way to go but the Sox either need to make him or break him.

I don't think Breslow would trade him for nothing ,  so iIthink Jarren will be retained until Anthony actually returns, maybe September .  Then the Sox will deal Duran over the winter or fight him in ARB, or last choice, DFA him.

The outcome of the issue last night is actually between Duran and his teammates and coaches/Tracy. Really not our business how they relate.    I would pay more attention to Contreras reaction than anyone. On the surface, he claims to be OK with it.

Or Sogard to AA…

Are you saying that Jahmai Jones is illegitimate?

I'm not sure how he did it, but four months into his RS career, it feels like our first true leader since Papi.

Basically, yes.  I like him well enough, but I'd have more faith in Adell or Springer.  And it is less about JJ being Duran's platoon partner.  That would be fine.  But if Duran needs to be demoted, I don't trust JJ to be our starting LF.

I actually don’t trust Adell as a starting LF.  He’s a glorified JJ.

Lateky I have found the best fit for LF to be JJ.  But not ours, Bleday.  Seems unlikely since I think Breslow is more wrapped up in SS, which, why bother?  Promote Arias until the injured folks start returning.  Move Monasterio to 2b until 3 days after he stops hitting.  And get a real LF from Cincinnati.

Can't they waive him, (instead of DFA) in hope that someone might just take the contract?  (There's probably something about the rules on this I don't understand.). If no one bites, then go the trade route?

He has only $2.6M left on his contract.  Unless we are hitting one of the caps, I see no reason to waive him.

Thanks.  I was thinking mainly of waiving rather than DFA-ing him. (but the money saved isn''t much).

He doesn't think he's wrong, so it's easy.

To him, he's resting on being right all the time.
