BTV accepts Bello, KC & Godbout for Lindor.

We could find another combo to trade for an underwater Lugo and not suffer losing Bello's IP for the rest of 2026 and 2027.

KC and Bello are owed a lot of money, but it is spread out for the Mets and they do still offer future hopes of value to them. Godbout may or may not be someone they like, too. (Phillips could be subbed.)

Sox need his innings this year. Maybe can deal him in the offseason.

I qualified that statement with later trading for someone like Lugo.

I think lindor is a negative value player. Six should be able to trade similar negative value player(s) for him.

BTV has him at negative $22M, so one would think you could get him for nothing, if you took his whole salary.

Nobody.  That was how they handled the PR of free agency without actually spending the money associated with free agency.

If they had saud “we’re not willing to take on money,” it would have been more accurate to date, but it also would have been received about as well as free globes at a Flat Earth convention…

The Red Sox front office was there. They played croquet with the globes with the intent of turning it into golf tee offs to see who could send one the farthest. But when they looked over the edge they found out it curved and everyone rolled over and wound up in an Asian league they argued was inferior or at least the same level as D1.

I have been disgusted by what I call our "circus carrousel at 2B" for over a decade.

Every team has 'carrousels', and usually multiple carrousels.  Sometimes it is best to deal with your demons as they escape.

I'd trade Bello in a heartbeat.

IMVHO, the best bet is to allow Bello to continue his bulk relief assignments.

  • We need innings.
  • Bello has been beyond awesome in relief with a 0.77 ERA and an 8/1 K/W.
  • IF this continues, some team will make a real off in the off-season, assuming they can switch on the usual SP role.

Add, I don't think that sentence helps your argument at all.  None of those guys are striking fear into anyone.  EXcept maybe Arias in the Eastern league

You don't need to have a SS strike fear into the other team.  If we had IKF performing the way he had been, we wouldn't even be discussing SS.

I'm also for adding someone like Lugo.

These are two super-small sample sizes, but both Bello and KC are performing well as of late.

The Mead move doesn't solve SS but it may invalidate any further discussion of Lindor.

Never thought it very realistic anyway

Yes, he had gotten himself over .700 by batting much better than that for a while, but the expectation is about ,650 with him and maybe .625 with a Monasterio-Cheng platoon. Story's expectation is a big unknown, to me.

I see our 3 biggest needs now being SP and Catcher with SS being close. (With Story, Mayer and Arias on the team, I don't think Brez & Co. agree with me on a SS need.)

I do, and he doesn't have "starter yips."

It's not a slam dunk feeling. I'm open to other choices. I mentioned Lugo, because he might have a price tag next to free, if we take on his complete salary. KC might even pay a sizable chunk.

I'm not so sure, but it would have to mean Mayer gets traded and one of these two things happening: Story get's given up on or the Arias arrival put on hold.

We could eventually use Mead at DH, 1B or even LF and find a slot for Arias and Story, but I see your point.

I am counting on Mead not being the only move.

Breslow needs to follow through and clear up situations including Duran, multiple utility players including Romy G., and who can pitch into October

I'm almost positive another summer move is in the works- maybe even 2 significant ones.

We know winter moves are fast and furious and often major ones.

I'm not sure he views the Duran situation and "summer trade worthy." Same with DH and Yoshida/Romy. A lot depends on how they view an Anthony return.,, actually he affects both positional outlooks for 2026 and beyond.

We now have too many infielders, especially when IFK, Mayer & Story return from the IL. The recent KC improvement may not change much, in terms of trade talks and who stays vs who goes. IKF will be a FA, so maybe we see what (little) we can get for him. Maybe we trade Mayer. Story has negative trade value. Guys like Monasterio & Siegler do not have major trade value and seem like capable depth, but with Cheng, Sogard and others, maybe we deal one or two in some sort of package. Unless it's Mayer, any return will not be eye-opening.

I'm looking at Catcher and SP'er as the most likely major moves being talked about as we speak.

SP must be #1 .   But just look at the crowd in the IF you mentioned plus guys like Eaton who have played in MLB.

You could field the Red Sox and WooSox infields plus bench players with this logjam.

When Story returns, Cheng goes back to Worcester.

Seigler likely goes back when they activate Mead.

Mayer can go to WOO upon activation, assuming he isn’t dealt next week.

No real logjam until IKF gets activated…

Question: does MiLB have the same roster limits ? Where do the guys in Worcester go when they get swamped by Sox retreads ?

I liked the Lindor idea, but with the addition of Mead, I think that's dead.  Either Story returns to form next year, or Arias takes over in May.  No room for any SS addition now.

I don’t think Lindor was in any thoughts of Brez. To big, and long of a contract.

Probably not, but the concept included significant payroll relief by the Mets.

Still not interested, nor do I think the Red Sox are, or are the Mets with their relief, so NO all the way around.

It doesn't make sense to keep them all.

How many borderline infielders do we want on the 40?

We also have Eaton & Sogard. (One or both could be traded.)

Now he attends Mets’ meetings as well…
