I was on the KMarte wagon for most of the winter. I was driving the wagon for a while.

I kinda soured when I heard what AZ wanted (Tolle and or Early plus more) and the age issue was brought up, too. I'd consider trading for him, now, despite his dip in production. He has one less year of control and is owed less than half the Lindor Money. Even if NYM pays $60M, Lindor is still paid more and has an extra year on the wrong side of the age scale.

I'd consider trading for Lindor, too. His upside is very high, and even if he declines, he could still be a nice value for 3-4 years of the 5 remaining. Maybe even all 5.

Mayer may never have been a great player in the making. Something not quite right with that fellow.

Half the site wanted to sign:

• Alonso for 5 years (1 year younger than Lindor)
• Bregman for 5 (4 months younger)
• Schwarber for 5 (8 months older)

Lindor had a better year last year, and assuming the Mets subsidize, Lindor is considerably cheaper.

Lindor's skillset may not age the same way as Schwarber's or Alonso's. David Ortiz was productive into his age 40 season because he didn't need to do anything but hit HR and know the k zone. Bregman and Lindor rely on other skills that don't age as gracefully.

One reason I suggested pushing KC for Lindor is the money he is owed vs Mayer's.

Ortiz's last season was one of his 2nd best OPS+ for a full season.

He's owed less, but you can have the Mets pay down Lindors contract.  Lindor is also allegedly on the market right now where the Nationals are two games out of a wild card so I don't think Marte is on the market.  I think Lindor for 5/100 would be really good.  I'd love me some Marte too if the Nationals become sellers.

Lindor is playing hurt, which is probably stupid, but assuming his medicals are fine I'd expect him to be 100% next year.  He didn't go from GG to horrible in one year. 

Lindor might also be available, where's Marte might not be. Lindor at 5/100 might be very good.  he only really needs to be a 2.5 WAR player for that contract to be worth it

Yes, the Mets will likely "pay down" a good chunk of his deal, but KMarte is only owed:
