Sox are now 11-2 in their last 13 games, 7 of which have been against division leaders and only 2.5 games out of a wild card spot.

They dug a very large hole so they still have some climbing to do, but they're doing what they need to do all of a sudden.

Gotta hand something to Tracy.

He used a starting lineup featuring Romy Gonzalez, Andruw Monasterio, Nate Eaton, Connor Wong, Brett Harris and Patrick Sandoval, who was starting his first game in nearly two years.  All that against a team leading their division.

And got a win…

Nice start from Sandoval. Maybe he can be this year's Giolito.

The pen held on tightly. The staff K'd 9 and walked just 1, while our line-up drew 4 BBs.

Big boom by Durbin. He's been coming on strong after a little lull. It looks like he might have 15-20 HR pop, too.

We are 2.5 GB the WC.

We are just 2 losses behind the 4th best AL team.

And five games below .500 with a 31.7% chance of even getting into the playoffs per fangraphs. I still think we are sellers despite this flash in the pan. The worst possible outcome would be that they hedge again and are neither sellers nor buyers. That cannot happen.

This is rather impressive, considering no Crochet, Early, Houck, Crawford, and Sandoval/Suarez plus Anthony, Story and underwhelming seasons from a few others.

I don't disagree, but to get analytical about it, what specifically did Tracy do to help the team win?

Yeah I can't give Tracy credit, this was all the starters and pen.  When a team starts performing then suddenly the manager looks smarter.  Tracy had nothing to do with Durbin turning his season around for instance.

So happy for Sandoval after all he's been through, I don't think even he expected this. Just so weird to have a left handed dominated starting staff, and that's without Crochet.

Boy this is fun, I was watching just because I always watch my team play.  But it's different now, I feel these games really matter.

I agree. Being 5 games under 500 looks a lot better than 14 under 500. All the games mattered, and matter, and now it’s a question if they can climb out of that deep hole they dug themselves.

It's what he didn't do.

He didn't have to deal with Devers, and he didn't have to deal with a roster without Romy and Seigler.

I'm happy for Tracy, this is his big shot and I'm glad for him that the team's record is better.  But I don't see him as the reason for the team's improvement, they are just now starting to hit the baseball and the starting rotation is one of the best we've had in recent memory because it's so deep.

The Sox are 33-31 under Tracy, and according to some, W-L is all that counts.

Under Cora: no chance for playoffs.

Under Tracy, we'd be the 2nd WC team projecting his winning %.

I can't disagree with the record. I can disagree that Tracy is the reason for the improvement.  The hitters are hitting the baseball now and the starters have gotten even better.  Cora didn't have players playing like they are now.

I agree. Tracy has had Nothing to do with the Red Sox hitting more home runs now that they wasn’t hitting for most of the season, and mostly the reason for winning more games.

Pretty low bar when two games over 500 is a measuring stick.🤔

The entire difference is Durbin.  He was in a slump and came out of it.

Tracy told him to start hitting better.

Yeah after he went to a personal hitting coach after the Red Sox coaches couldn't get him going. Honestly that is a big concern for me, our coaches can't get our players to hit better.  It's actually the opposite.  Who knows how many players they have screwed up?
