Story also has the worst clutch score on the team, doing all the damage when the Sox are either ahead or the game is out of reach. 🫠

I fully understand that, but that’s still something that Mayer, or little Anthony hasn’t done.

He would definitely have more RBI hitting 3rd.

Definitely? He would have to get the bat off his shoulder, and stop watching all those called 3rd strikes go by first.

If Anthony and Story had switched spots in the lineup in each game, the Sox would have scored more runs IMO. There'd be a big black hole at leadoff though.

There are SEVEN Sox with higher called 3rd strike %'s than Anthony.

So that makes little Anthony look better? Low bar.

Possibly, but at the very least pure speculation. Posters on here were expecting a lot more from Anthony from what he shown so far. One even asked how high his ceiling is. Right now he’s closer to the floor than any ceiling.

As I’ve said before Duran has been in, and out of the lineup, which most likely makes it harder to get going. I’m not a big Duran fan, but he’s shown he’s better than how he looks so far.

So, that's your plan: play Duran everyday and bat him first.

Got any other great ideas?

It's nice to see you actually state a clear and specific idea.

Somehow, if Duran ends up sucking, you'll still come back and claim you were right. Book it.

He's still doing way better than the guy you want batting first.

I’m not debating that Duran hasn’t sucked so far, but all I’m saying is that he played enough baseball to have shown he better than what he’s shown so far.

He's a "suspect," right now..

I detest that the nerds are running the planet right now, they suck the joy out of everything they touch, they are in the process of destroying the game as we knew it. Screw the numbers, bad is bad, and the Red Sox are hitting like crap. Most are being payed way TO MUCH too suck this badly!. Keep on giving out 7 and 8 years contracts to kids that have not come close to earning it, brilliant strategy.

That doesn’t sway Cora that Mayer may have a better arm, and glove. As for the bats Story does have 17 RBI to Mayer’s 3, you know something that actually shows up on the scoreboard, and Story is still a FT player, and Mayer still is not.

Doesn’t say much about Cora. Especially the part where you say Story is the better defensive shortstop because he has more RBIs..

Rivera will be pitcher #18.

We've yet to see Tolle, Crawford & Sandoval, as well as Bennett- the only pitchers left on the 40 not used, so far.

Woo pitchers not on the 40: Gamboa, Coffey, Bastardo, Guerrero, Kahnle, Keller, Martinez, Song, Sweet, Webb, Sena, Olds (Uberstine & Sikkema on IL) POR hopefuls: Holobetz, Mullins, Paez, Cooper Adams & Wehunt/Rogers

Pitchers on IL:

60 Day: Houck & Oviedo

15 Day: Gray, Crawford, Sandoval & Slaten

I guess Merloni doesn’t know what he’s talking about either when he also said during the game that he thinks Duran should be playing everyday also. He also said he’d like to see him in that leadoff spot tomorrow. They even talked about it on the postgame with Rice, and Middlebrooks. Middlebrooks said to put him in the leadoff spot, and let him go for a week, so I guess they must have a great idea too.🤫

The team started poorly to very poorly in 7 of the last 8 seasons and despite spending and making changes, this season is starting off poorly again. Cora has been around long enough to has an extended record. In the words of Parcell " You are what the record says you are".

I recommend moving on and getting a more hard line manager. If players aren't getting it done, face the facts and go find someone or ones that can.

MVP78 had some good thoughts for changes, One was for Arias. Bring him up, what is there to lose?

Surprised no one mentioned it, but maybe the Sox should try to kick start this offense by calling up their very own Spring Training Hero, your friend and mine, the one and only Braiden Ward!

(mild applause break)

He's played 93 MLB games.

1 HR, and 4 RBI is way better?

He has no RBI because the bottom of the order has typically had OPS guys under 600. Nobody is getting on in front of him. Story has had runners on (leads team with 72 runners on when he's at bat, which is why he has so many RBI).

Duran leads the team in base runners scored % and productive outs %. It doesn't look great, but he'll come around if they just play him everyday.

That's one way to add power into the lineup.

I love Merloni, and he also said this was going to be Crawford's year, so as you can see, we all gets somethings wrong, except you, of course.

You taking over my role as posting this after slamming me for doing it?

Typical.

Merloni has good insights from time to time, but he also toes the company line a lot. He's better now than when he had to be a hot take machine on WEEI.

WHA-- and risk ruining him for life!?!?!

What do you think is, a war where teenagers kill or be killed at the behest of fat politicians who grew up so rich and cowardly they never had to serve?

No! This is a kids' game, that young men play... how can you possibly subject a guy to the horrors of coming in last place?

It worked for Mookie.
