this is what an ace is for...a stopper...you don't hear that term much any more...the stopper...I always felt that was Senior Stopper Luis Tiant, then Rocket, then Pedro...Crochet is that type of guy and I think he will throw a no-hitter.

Is Crochet batting clean up? He couldn't be worse than the others who have auditioned for the job.

Obviously you put Yoshida in LF in the park with the deepest LF down the line, no foul territory and brick walls that use ivy as a safety feature.

 

This ought to clear up that OF/DH depth problem…

You can't try to out think Cora. His decision to let Wong bat with two on and two out in the 7th in a three run game is inexcusable and one of the dumbest managerial decisions I've seen in a long, long time. The guy is 0-30 with RISP.

Yoshi in left is always a shot in the dark . Would you not flip flop Yoshi and Anthony position wise ? 

I guess the idea is that you need to get Masa out there at some point, but backing Crochet may not be the right day.

Actually this isn't a bad lineup, especially compared to the lineups I've seen on DRAGNET.

I won't go all hyperbolic on you, but IMO this is a must win.

Stop the lazy slide, our ace/stopper pitching,  need keep close to the pace, need to beat better teams on the road , show some  ability to figure out a pitcher early and get the  oppo bullpen up and down 5 times.

I thought Cora said the idea of playing Rafaela at 2B was so that we can play our three left handed hitting amigos in the outfield, Anthony, Duran and Abreu.

They are all playing.  If Anthony is sick, that’s why he was flip-flopped with Yoshida.

The only other option for LF would be Refsnyder.  I think he has shown us his OF skill set.  It’s tolerable when he can contribute by hitting LHP, but a liability when facing RHP…

As mentioned multiple times, Anthony is apparently under the weather and limited to DH.  If that’s the case and they don’t want to start Refsnyder vs RHP, Yoshida is the best option for OF.

Yoshida did soend an entire season playing LF for Boston.  Bregman hasn’t played 2b since 2018, where he logged a whopping 11 innings in that role.

Now if you want to see Bregman at 3b, Mayer at 2b, Rafaela in CF, and Duran in LF, that’s another matter.  But I think they still want Yoshida hitting…

I’m guessing he’ll play 2 out of 3 for the foreseeable future.  Just watching him since he came back, it obvious he’s not 100%.  If 2/3 keeps him healthier and in the lineup even that often, okay.  We need him.
