Wong, still without a hit this season with a runner in scoring position, seemed a candidate for a pinch-hitter in the seventh. Cora said he didn’t consider it, saying, “You got to trust your players. He’s playing today for a reason, and I felt like it was a good matchup lefty against him. It just didn’t work.”

Sounds like an idiot comment by Cora. You "trust" a guy who has just ONE RBI this year??? Its almost August. WTF are they waiting for? DFA him!

“You’ve got to trust your players,” Cora explained. “He’s playing today for a reason. I felt like it was a good matchup — lefty against him. And it just didn’t work out."Wong went 0-for-3, dropping his slash line to .144/.228/.144/.372 in 36 games (101 plate appearances).Cora said he doesn’t have the answer for why Wong has struggled so much this season.

What a lazy manager. Hey Brez, how hard is to acquire a catcher that can beat OPS of .372? Why don't you fix the easy part before dreaming pipe dreams?

I was hoping Cora would start Mayer at 2B and put Romy at 1B, instead of Toro or at DH, instead of Yoshida vs the lefty.

Toto and Yoshida had 4 of our 6 hits.

Maybe Corta knows more than we do.

Just maybe.

Geesh- two games and we are back to mega- nega- ville.

Maybe Corta  does know more than us, but I doubt Cora does.

Yes, they have been terrific v. lefties...but you don't need to start Wong, and Duran and Abreu are guys that can hit for power or drive the ball in gaps.

Wong is Bello's personal catcher.

I'd say it's a totally legit question why Cora didn't pinch-hit Narvaez for Wong in the 7th.  And I think I know what the possible answers are, but it's definitely something he should have been asked about after the game.

there is no excuse. it's just more of his dumbass Little League managing, where everyone plays, so someone's feelings don't get hurt.

It also takes the onus off him.  I mean, why does he never say “I’ve got to manage better?”

Letting Wong with 2 men on in a 3 run game is just negligent…

and grounds for dismissal.

Negativity is the default position, moon.  Especially on game threads.  Fred can stay negative when the team is winning 10 in a row, so what what would you expect in a loss. 😛

Two losses: season over.
